This occured to me while playing TMC (I've never played FS or anything with Vaati in it before). Since Koholint was in some ways a part of Links dream as well, could the nightmares reflect the horrors that Link has encountered in his travels. It would only be natural for a child who has been through as much as he has to have disturbing dreams. Thoughts anyone?
Well, most of the enemies Link faces in Koholint are similar to ones he's faced before in Oracles (if you believe that Oracles comes before LA). DeathI could be merely a dream facsimile of Vaati or that One-Eyed Monster could be some kind of Ancient Demon that Vaati tried to become.

***Spoiler***
Highlight text to read
The second transformation of Vaati looks very similar to Dethl's final transformation. Vaati also appears very shadowy until he takes form.

Not much I know but I'm gonna replay LA to see if there is anything else.

Also, Dethl takes on the form of a Vaati like creature as well as that of Ganon, so it's plausible to say that he is simply an amalgamation of evil from all the Link's adventures.

EDIT: Okay, I just read another post in Zelda General about the way it's spelt. Don't try to prove me wrong, please...

What's DethI's real name? I'll just use that. Only NoA would make a name like deth-I.
When the name first surfaced it was Dethl, I just go with that, but it doesn't really matter because I still know who the person is talking about and that is all that matters.

I think he's asking for the Japanese name.
Oh well in that case I have no idea. I know the name of the game is Legend of Zelda: Dreaming Island instead of Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, but I have no idea what the Japanese name is for Dethl, but I would still suggest that it is Dethl. Though I am sure someone on this board will know the answer.

I was under the impression that there's a entinty that can change shapes. Call him The Shadow Nightmare.
He takes the form of:
Gel: Link has fought plently of blob-like enemies in various games
Aganhim: duh...
Ganon: duh.....
Lanmola: this one has me drawing a blank.
Moldorm: First LA boss and 4th aLttP boss
DeathI, DeathL whatever: I thought simply the final form was DeathI and when LA came out we just didn't have any enemies to compare it to. I think when Nintendo made more games they tried to explain what "DeathI" is.

Lanmola was a boss in A link to the Past when Link had to get the Pendant of Power.
Lanmola was a sub-boss when Link fought him in the desert in Link's Awakening.
These is all of the appearances I can think of that Lanmola shows up in. Gohma in the Wind Waker actually looks more like a Lanmola than it does a Gohma, but that is still rather pointless.
