So my boyfriend recently found his old SNES and we're playing ALttP on it, and this has been driving us crazy. What does the number over Link in the player select screen mean???

I think LttP includes times you've saved and quit to the tally. The number doesn't appear until you've beat the game, though.

Yeah, it considers the sum of the above the number of "Games Played." It's sort of like a startup count for that file.
