I'm sorry, I can't do that. As a villain, the Joker is far better constructed with emotional and psychological issues that really bring him to life. Ganondorf was very two-dimensional, except for in The Wind Waker where they really tried to give him some character.

Yup, gotta go with the Joker!

I find it amusing that Sephiroth finally got knocked out by a relative nobody this time, though. Glados was eliminated far too early. Though at least it was by Vader. Competition needed more SHODAN.

Though Vader and the Joker aren't originally video game villains, so that's kind of cheap. Still, Ganon isn't very interesting, as far as villains go. At least not compared with the competition.

That's very dissapointing to hear. And this is a Zelda fanbase site.

... What am I doing here?

I'm sorry, but Ganondorf just isn't that interesting a villain. I mean the games are good, but as a villain, Ganondorf is a non-starter.

I mean even Majora's better than Ganondorf. With Majora, you could actually see its actions unravel before your eyes, devestating whole communities and eco-systems. Ganondorf? No such luck. You couldn't feel anything. Not even when he froze Zora's Domain and locked up all the Gorons. Besides which, Ganondorf isn't that scary a villain. With Ganondorf, as long as you swear fealty, you're safe. With Majora, you're never safe.

Perhaps that's why with the Joker, he managed to get through so quickly. He's insane and unpredictable. You're never safe with the Joker.

It's a shame GLaDOS didn't make it. After all, she's just as insane and dangerous as the Joker. Plus she has the added benefit of being an actual videogame character.

I'm sorry, man, but I gotta go with the Joker. Ganondorf was just kind of this...odd guy.

Also, when I first read this thread, it reminded me of JRP's tournaments. ;d

Hang on a second! I just noticed something about the polls. Is it just me or are there a lot of Star Wars fans there? How'd both Darth Malak and Darth Vader manage to get so far? Beating both Giygas and Dracula? (Although I guess Dracula is just as two-dimensional as Ganondorf, really).

Oh yes. We are. No one can escape from Star Wars fans, it doesn't matter where you go...usually.

Regarding the original topic, if I wanted to, I'd vote for Ganon if he was seperated from the human version. I prefer the demon version anyways, and that's why I chose Ganonlord for a screen name instead of something to do with Ganondorf. Demon Ganon was a better villain, but Majora blows him to shame... as well as a few other game villians I've seen recently.

Honestly. Ganondorf isn't a good villain except for TWW. Heck. Vaati was a little better. Actually, now that I think about it, the TP one was pretty nasty, so I guess I'll help him out, WolfLink. But only because I'm feeling nice today.

Ganon's a decent villain. His lack of humanity doesn't bug me, because Zelda generally plays off of fairy tale/mythology tropes, so making the villain err because he's inherently evil doesn't seem too out of place. Link isn't a particularly deep hero either, but it generally works.

Wind Waker got away with humanising him to a certain extent because subverting the Zelda mythos was a big part of Wind Waker's storyline, so that was also fine. My only real problem is how poorly-handled he was in Twilight Princess. The purely demonic portrayal was perfectly suited to the storyline, but they should have given him less screentime. The focus was supposed to be on Zant and Midna, but during the last half hour of gameplay the Twilight Realm may as well not exist.

All that said, I probably wouldn't vote for him either. :P

On second thoughts, I'll vote, but only because it doesn't seem right that a non-videogame villain should beat a videogame character. However, the moment a decent videogame villain comes up, I'm voting for him/her.

Most of the really nasty ones have already been eliminated...sadly. Even the one who I would deem as the nastiest game villain (Kefka from FFVI) I've ever heard of was eliminated. Now I know why I don't look at the gamespot polls very often.

Eh, Lavos lost to the Shredder from Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles? Do people on Gamespot even play videogames?

Apparantly not. How non video game characters made it into those polls is anyone's guess at this point. Even worse is when non video game villains are in the polls and WIN. Now I know why I don't visit gamespot very often anymore.

Eh, Lavos lost to the Shredder from Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles?

How can a TV villain even MAKE it to a poll for video game villains? Especially one with so many pathetic versions and only one I can deem as a true villain. I wonder if ign's polls are any better?
