for me my first proper zelda game was oracle of seasons, my younger brother had just bought it from "grainger games" (a shop in uk.) he was only like 7 lol, it was just the cart tho.. i still remember how much it cost. between £8 - £9. i remember being realy impressed the way i could see inside the cartridge lol (i was like 9 or somthing..) and then one time i had links awakeining (DX) with me and oracle of seasons, and either tey fell out my pocket or were stolen .. i miss that lil game :( , i later re - got links awakeing tho but the original version, i traded it with my friend kurt , i ran home to get my goron figurines (from phantom hourglass) cos he came up to me with the game when i was on the way to school wearing my grey zelda shirt (non school uni day.) and he opend the gb case like it was treasure it sparkled in the sun lol, wooo im getting of track here :P whats your first "proper" zelda experience (dosent have to be the first game you got, OOS wasnt my fist zelda, its about the memories!) (e.g: when i was playing on Oot i strongly remember the fire temple becuase i was eating white choclate when i was doing it and i remember it getting the controller all messy, my brothers controller! lol) (ignore the typos, i have a keyboard from sega's wearhouse.)

OoT was my first... (Well, other than a few dabbles with AoL and LA). I remember it was my birthday, and I was getting a Nintendo 64; so we went to Toys R Us so I could pick out the one I wanted. They had several different deals; you know, and N64 plus three games for a reduced price. One of them was Formula One Racing, F Zero X and Ocarina of Time. I don't even like racing games that much, but when I saw Ocarina I knew it was the one I wanted. I'm not sure I'd even properly heard of the game or series at that point in my life; I guess I was won over entirely by the box... Anyway, that was like the only copy of Ocarina of TIme they had on display, so it had to be that multipack. It took them ages to find the actual game, too; they had to go in the back and hunt around, but they did finally find it. So! That's how I got OoT.

(My birthday is January the second, so I guess they were pretty cleared out by the Christmas rush.)

From ceiling to floor, books board games and bikes, teddies puppets and dolls, bats spaceships and trikes...

My first Zelda game was TWW. I got it at some used game store after I got my GC in 2004. I forgot the name of the store, but they had a lot of used games for very old systems. I don't think it exists anymorePosted Image .

Ocarina of Time for my 12th birthday. My brother got it for me. I wasn't even interesting in the series until then, but I completely fell in love with it just a few minutes after starting. I think one of earliest memories is taking about half an hour to kill Gohma. Good times. ;d

Incidentally, I just got my N64 copy of the game back off a friend who's had it for the past five years. I'm gonna get nostalgic tonight. ;d

Now I know I said Link's Awakening DX in other threads, but I'm not so sure that's right thinking about it. I think it was OoT.

A friend brought his copy over to my house one day and he showed me the first few bits of gameplay. Even my dad was impressed by the epicness that was Hyrule Field. Anyway a few months later I got it myself, I remember it was the 4th N64 game I owned. Everything else was Mario titles before that. And I was reading the first Harry Potter at the time, because I remember likening Mido to Dudley... I think this must have been mid-1999. Towards the end of the year Pokemon hit, and next year Majora's Mask would come out.. a great time to be 10 years old.

You people make me feel old. My first game was ALttP, although I'm sure there are some here who's first game was one of the two NES era games... And are therefore ancient crones, by definition. :P

I'm sure I played LoZ or AoL at some point in my earlier years, but the first game I remember playing from start to finish was OoT... I forget how old I was, probably 10 or 11. All my Zelda games up until .. Oracle of Seasons, I think, I inherited from my brother when he was good and ready to part with them. :P

zeldaartist, please try to avoid posting consecutively. My first Zelda game was A Link to the Past. I'm ancient enough that it could very well have been the original if I'd had an NES as a kid, but my family had a Sega Master System, so the SNES was my first Nintendo console. I remember thinking it was really hard to find my way into the castle at the beginning, and I used to get positively scared of the third dungeon in the Dark World (Skull Woods). I've since played the game so many times I can breeze right through most of it, though some parts do require a bit of wandering before I can remember where to go.

I have fond memories of my grandma shouting "Look out! Look out! He's gonna get you!" as I ran across the overworld of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, with my grandpa reading from an old guide book. I'm pretty sure I only ever got as far as the first dungeon, though. I played around on the overworld of the first game, too, but never got anywhere substantial there, either. It was enough to have me anticipating The Ocarina of Time, though, and I used to pore over every new issue of Nintendo Power, searching for some tidbit of information. I still have the issue with "Zelda: First 100 Screenshots!" plastered across the top. Ocarina was the first Zelda game I played from beginning to end, and I've been in love ever since.

And I STILL can't beat Zelda II.

Heh, Yeah I feel old. I remember playing LoZ from beginning to end. And it took me like 5 playthroughs because I kept miraculously losing my save data.:rage:

After that I jumped to OoT, had to go back and play LttP. MM then WW. Beyond that I haven't touched any of them, lol. I love the Zelda series, but I'm so jaded with Nintendo. I miss the days when I wanted to throw my control because the game was difficult... not because the controller wasn't doing what I wanted.

More reminisces...

Now, whilst OoT was the first Zelda game I owned, my first console was a SNES; but my younger cousin actually had a NES. I remember pretty well the games he had on it (well, still has): Duck Hunt, A Boy and His Blob, Bart Simpson vs. the Space Mutants, Paper Boy, Home Alone II: Lost in new York and Zelda II: Adventure of Link. (Gold cartidge!) Quite a tough mix, really. Still remember Bart drowning in concrete over and over, and Kevin getting killed off in that hotel... And, of course, Zelda. Zelda II is tough. (No surprise to anyone who's played it...) In all the times we played it, we only once managed to beat Horsehead. That's pretty poor. Well, I guess we didn't have too long to play at a time, and grinding for levels tends to get boring... So, yeah, only once did we put the first stone in place.

Later, I got the Zelda Collectors Edition, and armed with more experience at beating games I finally went back and beat Zelda II, on the Gamecube. It's still really, really tough! I can't remember how many deaths I ended up with, but rest assured it was a lot. Still, it's a classic game; and the combat system, whilst simple,a ctually rewards someone getting good at it and is pretty rewarding to master.

My only advice is to hold off on picking up any of the extra lives until the last dungeon, lol
That game doesn't mess around.

(And I'm pretty sure Official Nintendo Magazine trumps Nintendo Power. Looking back, Nintendo Power was very...not...good.)

Twilight Princess, believe it or not. I got it in Christmas of '06, and played it for a few weeks. At first, I hated being the wolf, but the game became a lot more fun once I got into the actual dungeons.

Hmm... my first Zelda game was the monochrome version of Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. I did not own it but it was the first time I played a Zelda game. The game was set up in a video game section in a mall where anyone could play the game for free. Thinking of that does bring back good memories. :)
