Apparently, the Triceratops never existed and is in fact, the pre-skullshifted, juvenile form of Torosaurus, the bigger, stronger version.

According to scientists.

Save it for the bedroom. You're making me blush. :wub:

According to another article, it's actually Torosaurus that will be erased and renamed as adult Triceratops.

Torosaurus will now be abolished as a species and specimens reassigned to Triceratops...

Triceratops was discovered before Torosaurus, so it'd make sense - though keep in mind this is still just conjecture with new evidence, though it is Jack Horner.

This isn't exactly the first time this has happend, even beyond the other well known case with Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus, so it's just an interesting turn of events.

As well as a couple of rammers. Glossed over the story about a few species from Hell's Creek that may have been all merged into one? One of them was in Jurassic Park 2.

Aye, two different members of the family turned out to just be Pachycephalosaurus.

I refuse to believe. I saw Land Before Time, which clearly indicates the existence of the Triceratops.

You should've known me when I was in elementary school. Dinosaurs were no small obsession for me. I had so many dinosaur books, and toy dinosaurs... I still have a pair of apatosaurus (lmao, Firefox suggests "brontosaurus" instead) earrings a friend's mom made for me in like third grade. And, of course, my shirt...

I thought everyone went through a dinosaur phase. I was always the fan of the Ankylosaurus.

And her father!

Many modern animals are sexually mature and ready to go in less then a year. :arcee:

I thought everyone went through a dinosaur phase.

....it was only supposed to be a phase...? <.<

I majored in geology for the sole purpose of wanting to eventually go into paleontology, and I was excited like you wouldn't beleive it when I found out Robert Bakker is the new curator for the paleontology wing at our museum here. Heck, when I actually met him a couple weeks ago to see the newly renovated Dinosaur Hall, I stammered and stuttered like a little fangirl before clearing up and gushing about how much of an honor it was to meet the guy. @_@

(If you've seen The Lost World, you know the bearded paleontologist who was Dr. Harding's (Julianne Moore) colleague who disagreed with her research? He was based on him as an inside joke)

All the same, yeah, never outgrew the dinosaur thing myself, even if I am doing business now. My mom actually got me this giant torso sized coffee table book about Dinosaurs for my birthday last year - love it to death. ;)

And I'll always have a soft spot for Tyrannosaurus. Always and forever more - as overexposed and cliche as it might be, tear off all the emdia and hype and it's still a damna wesome creature, and incredibly majestic to stand in the shadow of its skeleton and just imagine...

Heh, that's not exactly what I meant. It's cool if you get into that as a career or even continue as just a hobby. What I meant is that I thought everyone went through it at some point, whether you stayed in it or not.

T-Rex is and probably always will be my favorite. Though the Velociraptor (spelling?) is a close second. Basically it's a choice between agile and deadly, or huge and ROAAAR.

I had a thing for velociraptors during elementary school. My best friend and I used to pretend we were raptors, and one of my favourite toys was this plastic "Jurassic Park" raptor that moved its head when its feet were squeezed together. It was freaking awesome. ;d

I totally still have that Velociraptor toy somewhere in my closet!

....along with one that's inexplicably bright blue. o_O;;;

EDIT: Aha. Well that explains that, I totally forgot about the Chaos Effect toyline. Didn't much care for it since it was all fake dinosaurs. Meh.

This one, right? I'm pretty sure that mine was given away during my "too old for toys" phase. T_T I've kicked myself for letting some of my old toys go. I'm tempted to buy one of these, though it wouldn't be the same not having the one that was mine. :cry:

I'm a little amused to look back at the way the raptors were rendered back then, given that I now know that they had feathers. XD

Indeed, though I'm a little wary of how Tyrannosaurus supposedly had a feathered crest as well according to recent studies.

And aye, most of my stuff is gone - though I kept a handful, including the T-Rex that eats action figures from the second movie.

Best damn toy a 10 year old could have. ;_;
