I think either LOZ or ALTTP would be very good in 3D.

However, after playing New Super Mario Bros. and Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles,I do believe that The Adventures of Link (specifically the side-scrolling parts) might look quite nice with 3D graphics so long as the movement remains two dimensional.

Frankly I don't think it's ever a good idea to make a 2D game entirely 3D or vice-versa - there's just too much that would have to be overhauled, it makes more sense just to make new games.

I would totally love a Zelda sidescroller in a simmilar vein as New Super Mario Bros. Wii. However, I don't know if there'd be market for it. It worked for Mario because Mario is famous for it's sidescrollers and therefore had a big nostalgia factor going for it. Zelda only had one sidescroller (The CD-i games don't count >=( ) and it didn't fair too well. what would probably work if they did a overhead game in 3D or at least had some parts in overhead like dungeons and towns. Kinda like the DS games, only with less generic dungeon designs. I'd like to see something like that in a full fledged Wii title.
Also, ALttP with it's graphics and gameplay overhauled into 3D while retaining it's story elements is basically OoT anyways.

Or, dare I say it, 2D WoG/FoE with 3D graphics. Without the almost crippling CDI controller there are some decent games there. Keep the music, get all new video cutscenes, update the graphics and use a controller with more than two buttons and we could have some welcome additions to the virtual console.

A 3D graphic style AoL which maintained the sidescrollery otherwise would be quite nice, though generally I agree with Fëanen; if a game isn't designed to be 3D it probably won't make the transition well. ALttP and LA are full of things like hammerable blocks, smashable stones and single size pits that make sensible barriers in the top down 2D view, but in 3D would probably just look silly. The amount of effort involved in changing one of the top down games would be better spent in making new games. But if it's a simple graphical change that doesn't majorly affect the gameplay (2D AoL but with 3D graphics) I could see it possible happening.

Wouldn't that be more like wiiware than virtual console? I would play them either way. I think the only way someone could pull off a 3D ALTTP, LOZ, or LA is either making it similar to PH and ST or like the two DS Final Fantasy remakes (I'd prefer the first option, but they're both similar and awsome).

However, Nintendo could take a note from 3D Dot Game Heroes. That game WAS pretty much the original Legend of Zelda game, and it worked. Flawlessly. So I agree with those that have said if Nintendo made the games exactly the same, just in three dimensions, it would probably be phenomenal.

But, I'd rather play new Zelda games. Fear not however, it is the destiny of every popular game to be re-made or worked on again.
