Anyone else consider the possibility that Kafei is Link's Terminian counterpart?

Kafei is the first person who isn't Link to be playable in Zelda....
Not true. There is always that CD-i game of which we never speak. And Showsni did a Let's Play of.
I only have one problem with the idea that Kafei is Link's counterpart: why is it that Link is the one who has to go and fix things? Why can't Kafei do it? I mean, Link did all this work to save Termina, but his heart is elsewhere; he doesn't even stay for the carnival....

I always thought it was rather obvious, at least at the time of the game, that Tingle was supposed to be Link's counterpart.
Definately not a counterpart but maybe a twisted parody of Link.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to say Link has to have a counterpart, just noting that it's interesting that the other guy we play as in the game, specifically said to have similar features, also has a bit of a reverse version of Link's situation in OoT. And it makes me wonder about the intentions behind all those aspects, though they may be coincidence or mean nothing.
I noticed the simmilarities. I also noticed that they're the only two characters in the game that have realistic shadows shaped like their bodies while the NPC's all have circle shadows. Which made me jokingly conclude that they were the only two rael people in the entire game and everyone else were holograms being projected by floating orbs where their "bodies" should be.

It's a literary device. They make parallels and foils between Link and Kafei to demonstrate that, even though he's not a hero, he will go to ridiculous lengths in the name of love. It's a simple case of showing that a little bit of what makes Link "Link" is in everyone. I figured this was obvious.

1. Anju thinks he's dead, but according to her mother he abandoned them and she's spent her life waiting for him to return. A little like that scene of Link and Ilia at the end of TP!
2. Anju's Grandmother seems to mistake you for him!
That's enough evidence to build a theory on!
