There are two things I'm really holding out for:
1) A more open-ended structure that favours exploration.
2) A more combat-oriented game design.
Shame the leaks say nothing about this.

The only real mystery is the FSS.

On another note, this shows potential to actually use its position as a prequel to expand the mythos. The Master Sword is one of the most important recurring pieces of the series, but it's never had a backstory beyond "The Sages did it," which given all the revisions to ALttP, might not even be 100% accurate anymore. We do know that the sword was legendary by the time of OoT, so maybe this game will explain why.

Actually, TP said that the Sages made the Master Sword. ALttP just said that the Goddesses instructed the people to make the Master Sword.
As for the rumors themselves, I'm still skeptical. Rumors aren't known for being reliable, and some things can be guessed easily enough. Even the statement about the Hookshot could be a fan invention, considering TWW included both it and the Grappling Hook when many players felt as if one of the two could handle everything. TP's Double Clawshots made Link feel like Spider-Man to boot.
As for the girl on the poster, I doubt that her name will be Adelle or Zordiana. However, it is clear from the poster that she will likely have something to do with the Master Sword.

I'm really doubtful of these rumours, though. I mean, it's ZI. They do pretty much anything for hits and attention.
Aside from the lack of a subtitle, which sounds stupid, I still sort of hope most of that is true. It would alleviate at least some of my fears about the series at the moment.

Less delineation between dungeons and overworld seems pretty believable; TP was kind of moving in that direction, after all. That seems something that could be good.
Difficulty settings could be a good idea, we'll have to see how they implement it. It might be something as simple as making enemy hits do more damage; or it could be harder puzzles, more/different enemies in a particular room, etc.
If it does show the MS's origins it should be pretty easy to place in the timeline at least. I wonder if it will clear up the Japanese/English inconsistencies? According to the English ALttP manual, the Master Sword is created in response to Ganon entering the SR and getting the triforce! That would make this game... a retelling of the Imprisoning War. Ouch. Of course, in the Japanese the Master Sword is created before Ganon invades the SR.

It might be a remake of the original. I hope not, but that would make timeline theorizing easier. We will know tomorrow, though.I'm slightly pleased to see that my suspicions about it being a prequel about the Master Sword's origins are true. I was calling that way back last summer. However, I'm concerned that there's no subtitle. Maybe it just hasn't been confirmed yet and so is just going under a generic working title. I always thought naming two games in a series the same name just caused confusion. For example, people had to use awkward nicknames like "Sonic Next" and "Sonic 2006" to refer to that awful XBox 360 game instead of the original. Same thing with the recent Prince of Persia game. I could see keeping a generic title if they just wanted to reboot the series or something, but as a prequel it's weird.
doesn't the Japanese version of ALTTP give the same origins story as OOT and TP? There are a few that I hope are true.TP and ALttP give different origins for the Master Sword, but they can easily be reconciled. This would totally destroy both, but oh well.

1. The new dungeon formula. This actually sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
2. The difficulty settings. The hero mode should at least be harder than the last few games. Or at least as hard as the games before TWW.
3. The story. A story of the origins of the MS should be a good one.

Considering the site these rumors were found on, I'm calling shenanigans. They're made up unsubstantiated rumors to get attention before.
And "Zordiana?" Please.
Ditto. It's ZI folks! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. There's not going to be a third time. I'm taking this with a healthy grain of salt. Even though this particular rumor is especially tempting.

But bashing ZI, home to the best theorizing resources we have and the Zelda Historian's project?
That's week guys. You should be ashed of yourselves.

Zelda Informer has amazing theorising resources. That has nothing to do with the fact that they've pulled this shit numerous times to get traffic, and in general ZI seems to be run by attention whores. I have first hand experience of their egos. There's plenty of precedent to say they're exaggerating the reliability, and to criticise them for repeatedly trying these stunts.

Bashing? No, no, they've just posted false alarms plenty of times before and in fact a lot of the major Zelda Wii leaks come from ZI. Which they've openly confessed to. Of course the fault is on us for not doing our research. ZI at least encourages us to be skeptical which I'll chose to be. If the rumors turn out to be fake, then I won't be so mad. If they turn out to be real, then it will be awesome.

The On-Stage Dungeon, which is also playable at E3, isn't a Dungeon as we know it from the Zelda series. When entering a Dungeon, you will not notice you are in one. It will be a smooth gradation. There will be Dungeons with no Bosses and Bosses with no Dungeon. The "Dungeon" you are able to play at E3 will be an Ice-Level. It will be the frist "Dungeon" in the Game.
I find this one most interesting of all. It breaks away from the traditional boss/dungeon combo, but at the same time I don't feel repulsed that they're doing it. I think it would be kind of interesting to be walking back the castle and a boss just show up in the middle of Hyrule Field, or be waiting for you there.
One other thing I'm really hoping for in this game, is to be there when Ganon/whoever the hell is the big bad is, is actually invading the castle when they are trying to take it over. Or to have to battle the final boss more than once throughout the game. That would be interesting.

6:36: We're just watching the game demo once again, but this time it's working. I've already posted the hands-on. Some commentary: We made the map easier to read so it's much harder to get lost. One of our objectives was to bring the core gameplay back and not have all the focus on the amount of dungeons or what the story is.
6:39: Last year we showed a single piece of art. Back then, the story was pretty much complete. We just didn't have much in the way of anything visual to show.
6:40: For the most part, we're in the final stretch. We still have some dungeons to create, but the gameplay is solid. We're just not confident that we can get the final pieces in for this year. So that's why we revealed a 2011 release.
6:45: How many people remember the scene where Link dives off the cliff in the trailer? That's a very important point for the storyline. This time around, Link is born and raised in a land called Sky Loft, a land floating above the clouds. It may sound unique for someone to live on a floating land, but Link finds it ordinary. A land beneath the clouds is discovered, it's ruled by evil forces, but Link is forced to go there. Link has to travel between the two lands in this adventure. The Skyward Sword is his driving force behind his traveling between lands. That mysterious figure in last year's art is the Skyward Sword. People suspected this to be the Master Sword…but spoiler alert, the Skyward Sword becomes the Master Sword. (laughs).

They put up a bunch of sourceless rumors and said they were confirmed. Even if ZI has the Zelda Historian's project, they aren't good when it comes to news like this.

It seems like they're taking minor sidequests and making whole games out of them now.

Anyways in bigger news the OOT Link has pointy ears, so I guess he is being retcon into being Hylian in OOT.

This must mean that the sages are also from Sky Loft because they are the ones who made the Master Sword according to every game it is in. And this land below the skys has to be Hyrule. And why reveal that this is the MS's origins so early on? Even though it was obvious in the trailer.
Anyways in bigger news the OOT Link has pointy ears, so I guess he is being retcon into being Hylian in OOT.
Does anyone know why it took TWELVE YEARS for Nintendo to remake OOT? (which has been confirmed. ZD's homepage mentioned it)
Hey... I just thought of something. Link begins the game in a land above the clouds, much like the City in the Sky from TP. Maybe this has something to do with the Oocca and the sky legends from TP. But this has the potential to contradict so much established canon about the origins of Hyrule, though...
Maybe just the opposite. It might actually explain the origins of Hyrule and the Triforce more clearly without contradicting every Zelda game made since ALTTP.

Well, they did release a port on the Gamecube, and even a second quest. So remaking it for the N64 or Gamecube would have been redundant. They could have done a DS remake a la Mario 64, but was it really needed? I don't honestly see the point of continually remaking games.

7:17: Will the sword controls become tiring after long gaming sessions? Miyamoto admits, yeah it gets tiring. We designed the E3 version to have very aggressive enemies. The final version will have better pacing with puzzles to solve, you won't have just swordfighting. It won't tire you out as much as you think if you look at the E3 demo. You can tweak it for smaller moves, but it feels better when you really get into it.
I hope the enemies aren't too dumbed down for the home version.
