I remember when I used to subscribe to the Official Nintendo Magazine (or maybe it was Nintendo Official Magazine). Back in the day, they used to have a little segment where they'd post a reader's new way to play a game. Someone would invent their own mini-game using the game mechanics of a certain game.

Has anybody come up with a new way to play their old Zelda games?

I was actually going to make a thead about this, but for games in general! XD I have a tough time imagining an attempt to redefine a game like Zelda, but something like Tetris is no problem ;d

Hobblin' Hobo Run (OoT and TP):

A three heart run with no shield, the smallest magic meter possible, the Broken Giant's Knife, and the Iron Boots on at all times. (OoT)

A three heart run with no shield, no Hidden Skills, the Wooden Sword (glitches/hacks required), and the Iron Boots on at all times. (TP)

some guy called Loldbz did both of these on Livestream. Much frustration and death occurred. In particular, he was stuck on the Stalfos in Ganon's Tower for hours, and the mini-boss Darknut killed him at least 125 times respectively.

The Majora's Mask Scavenger hunt!

For two players:
Each person makes a list for the other to find.

For more players:
One player (the gamemaster) makes the list, the others do the hunting.

There is a list of "items" to be scavenged, in the form of Pictograph pictures. You are of course limited to one three day cycle, without the Inverted Song Time for hardcore players. The winner is whoever can get all the pictures first, or else whoever gets most pictures in the three day cycle. (You don't need to keep them on the Pictobox, just take a photo of it on the screen.) For instance,

1. A picture of Cremia sad because Romani was abducted.
2. A picture of a monkey in a cage.
3. A picture of the winner at the Goron Races.
4. A picture of Kafei and Anju together.
5. A picture of a pair of seahorses.
6. A picture of a cowardly swordsmaster.
7. A picture of a golden spider.
8. A picture of the Garo Master.
9. A picture of a Great Fairy. (An extra point for each different one!)
10. A picture of Tael.

AnnoyancezZZ:

Complete oot with the z button held down at all times.

Dungeon Diver:

Complete the spirit temple first. then the water, shadow, fire, and forest. (oot)

Memories:

Go through all the bosses in Majoras mask with the fierce deity mask on in a single play through.

This is how I did it:

Kill gannon without stunning him any in the second form, roll under his legs and swipe his tail til death do you part.

Link Ball

Played in Four Swords Adventure

I can't remember if it's possible or not, but I thought up of a new game after hearing about a game they play on the Orkney Islands. You can play one on one or in teams of two. If one on one, you can choose any level. Designate two (or three if there's three players) goals in the level. One of the extra Links should be the ball. The aim is to carry the extra Link to their respective goal. There are no other rules.

If there are four players, choose a level with a Moon Pearl in it or a similar object that can't be broken once thrown. That will serve as the ball. You can choose four goals or play as teams of two.

Beat the OoT dungeons in reverse order.
Try and beat MM in the minimum of two three-day cycles without using the Song of Double Time or the Inverted Song of Time.

Hang on a second! Is it possible to play Zelda Olympics? A shame, the Ball and Chain is only available in Twilight Princess.

Used to do that all the time!

Lets see...I used to do a Cucco Fly! Grab a Cucco, get on top of a high point, jump off holding onto Cucco to see how far you can fly. :D
