If you chose "Another lesser deity" or "A Titan", please share whom you're speaking of.

I personally favor Athena. Pretty badass if you ask me.

You missed The earth mother Gaia, and the half man half god Hercules.

Personally, Hercules is my favorite, going on trials to best the terrible beasts and save the countryside. Thats pretty badass to me.

Hercules is a demigod, which is why he didn't make the list. I've always considered Gaia a Titan, although she's technically the "Mother Godess".

Artemis.

One of Sparta's most important deities, representing independence, bravery, and the spirit of survival. A highly solitary goddess, but one of Olympus's most called upon warriors in times of divine crisis. Killed two fearsome giants without firing a single arrow. When angered, she has demanded the rare but severe price of human sacrifice, even forcing her own dear Spartans to suffer from ill fate due to their arrogance. The goddess of sudden death, striking from a distance without warning. Living out in the wilderness as the master of nature, with no rules save her own and no luxuries of civilization to make her soft.

Also gets to roam around with a whole harem of young women completely devoted to her. :chikkylovesme:

Athena... does needlework. >__>

Nyx, and Thanatos. Whom are in no way shape or form lesser gods, but absent from your list all the same.

They're bad ass. And then the people at Atlus found out how bad ass they were, and made them be key figures in Persona 3, which only increased the badass-titude of said deities.

haha I would have to agree. To prove just how awesome he is, when given the option of becoming a god or living in solitude with his girl, he chooses the girl :)

Voted for Athena, though Artemis is close behind. Chicks who need no man to prove they're badass.

..besides the part where Athena came from Zeus' forehead, but we don't talk about that.

Never got too huge into the Greek mythos anyway. Too overdone, I prefer my Norse gods. :3:

Well Chik, if you think about it Athena coming out of Zeus' forehead is what really proves she needs no man. Back then the general idea was that the chick serves as a sort of holding vessel for the dude's sperm to turn into a fully grown infant. So Athena coming out of Zeus' head fully grown shows that she's less dependent on a man than the other goddesses.

Of course there's also the story about Aphrodite being born from Zeus castrating Chronos and tossing his testicles in the sea. That one's always fun...

You know he once tried to rape Athena. But because he was so lame (literally), he failed miserably and got her on the leg instead. She couldn't take it seriously enough to even be annoyed, and just wiped it off and threw it off Mount Olympus. Apparently the inseminated rag fertilized the earth and made it give birth to this snake dude.

They're nearly all pretty horrible, really. You'd do best to stay well clear of all of them...

Maybe Demeter's not too bad.

Uh, Heracles totally killed Megara and ascended to godhood after completing his twelve trials.

Anyway, you'd better choose Apollo, or he'll give you an ass's ears.

But if you devote yourself to Artemis, Aphrodite will get annoyed and convince your father to kill you.

But cheer up! Artemis will kill someone who's devoted themselves to Aphrodite in revenge.

Better make sure you're not better at hunting than Artemis, or better at needlework than Athena.

And don't think about belittling Dionysus, unless you want your mother to rip you limb from limb!

Being female and pretty is kind of asking to get raped. Possibly by a swan.

Oh, and you don't want to lead Apollo on and then get cold feet. Unless you like knowing every terrible thing that will happen and have no one believe you.

Being born is enough to make some people angry enough to send killer snakes after you.

And make sure you're never proud! Hubris is a real killer!

I have never been a Hercules fan. The entire epic about him is entirely his fault.

Personally, I've always preferred Achilles to any of the Gods, in part because one of the many things I had to do in Latin was translate the Aeneid (and Achilles is a badass enemy in the first part) but mostly because in Godel, Escher, Bach Hoffstadter used the adventures of Achilles and Tortoise in something akin to Alice in Wonderland to introduce such things as recursion, infinite regressions, etc he would explore in the next chapter. (It's gloriously written, BTW.)

If I HAD to pick a god, I'd pick the Titan Promethius. He's the only mythical Greek figure I approve of; almost all the rest of the mythical figures are just selfish, egotistical morons. (Zeus can't keep it in his pants, heck, even my favorite Achilles had a row with Agamemnon and wouldn't fight when he wasn't given the slave-girls he wanted. I mean seriously. Can't ANY of these guys go five minutes without acting like total assholes? JUST FIVE MINUTES?!

Yeah, it's true that most of the Greek deities were total assholes. Strangely though, the ancient Greeks didn't go by their example. Zeus, for example, went around raping and impregnating every hot chick he saw. Hell, he even raped his own mother. No joke, it was because she told him not to run around raping other girls, and he wanted to prove a point. And after that, he raped his sister in order to get her to marry him (not sure how that works, but whatever).

So you'd think that the ancient Greeks were running around forcibly impregnating their hot Greek sisters, right? No! In fact, they even wrote a play called Oedipus about how shitty incest really is. The thing is that here in the modern world, and in almost every theistic religion, we think of God as the type of guy that you're supposed to follow as a role model. To the Greeks, the gods were just people they told stories about for entertainment purposes. After all, they didn't have TV, fast travel to other parts of the world, Nintendo, phones, or cold beer. What else are you going to do for fun?
