Though Liam Neeson as Zeus, saying "RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!" no less? Can't say I'm not interested there.

Not, y'know, that ANYTHING is what Raien wants it to be.
Well, that is until Iron Man 2 comes out.
But seriously, I know I'm not the only one that thinks the current film industry is a shadow of its former self. There are so few films noawadays that feel like modern classics (let alone recognised as modern classics), and I think that's mainly because all the blockbusters have simply given up developing good, original stories in favour of special effects. Avatar might be the epitome of this trend, but I'm getting the same feeling from all of these movies/trailers, whether they be Transformers or Tron or Clash of the Titans.
If you're finding enjoyment from these movies, good for you. I wish there were a lot of films that I could watch and say "Wow! That was incredible!". Pixar's Up was the last movie to do that for me, but it was the only film of 2009 to do that for me. There should be a lot more films like Pixar's films, with a wider variety of stories and genres, but the industry has fallen into recycling the same two genres constantly; fanservice action movies and stupid slapstick comedies. There's just no real variety in cinema today.
And I promise you, if there were films that I could feel good about watching, you'd see me singing a very different tune on this forum.

"WHOOAAAA! They're wacky! They're outrageous! Three college friends decide to go on a road trip in search of a partying legend they hope will help make their bachelor friend's party AMAZING! SEE WHAT KIND OF ZANY THINGS THEY GET THEMSELVES INTO!"
"Hey guys, I'm pretty sure I just shit my pants!"
"Dude! We haven't even backed out of the driveway!"
LAWL.
"OH HE'S THROWING HIS POOP AT PEOPLE AND CURSING!"
LAWL.
"These guys are awkward, and they are OUTRAGEOUS! COME SEE THE NEW OUTRAGEOUS COMEDY FROM THE GUYS THAT BROUGHT YOU THE HANGOVER!"
"OMG, THAT BABY IS GETTING MAULED BY A RHINO!"
"*shit throw*"
LAWL.
ON THE ROAD: Coming in May!
...
But I'm on the "Keeping my distance" crowd. The original was a classic, let's hope they did it some justice.

A friend of mine was saying over on FB that the movie was a waste of ten dollars, but that was the only negative thing I've heard about it so far. I probably won't go see it in theatres (I'm cheap XD) but I might watch it when it comes to Netflix.

Downside: I wish there was a lot more God/Titan involvement. There were only like three of them which I thought was kind of lame.. I wish they had put more of that into. So many other Gods/Titans could have played a really cool role even if it was only small.
P.S. I love Voldermort <3 ^^

Although, I think good movies are definitely still out there. It's just a matter of looking very hard to find the gems.

You can't base movies on anything anymore. If you think during a movie then you're done. It needs to be a mindless experience in order to enjoy them I find. Luckily I can do that very easily, so I enjoy almost every movie I see.
Oh, I will probably still enjoy the movie...I just think that if you are going to make a movie that is based off another movie..then originally off a timeless tale, then something as small as the origins of the main character shouldn't be messed with to much. Makes you wonder if they changed one small part of the story then what else did they change?

That's actually the problem. No one seems to make movies that provoke thought any more. You can't base movies on anything anymore. If you think during a movie then you're done. It needs to be a mindless experience in order to enjoy them I find. Luckily I can do that very easily, so I enjoy almost every movie I see.

When I think about it, one of the big things I appreciated about Iron Man was that it didn't bother wringing out the cliches. For example, there was a scene when Pepper said she was leaving Stark because she didn't like him risking his life. As soon as I heard the words, "I'm announcing my resignation", my heart sank as I expected this fall-out to be painfully dragged out over several scenes, as most films do. I was literally grateful when Tony simply persuaded her not to leave. I think to myself, why don't most films just save us the bullshit now that it's been done to death? It's become the unfunny version of, "...And he had just two days left until retirement."
And then there's the scene where Tony gets Pepper to replace his artificial heart and he briefly goes into cardiac arrest. Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but I was genuinely surprised and glad to see a successful comedy routine pulled off in a superhero movie. I wish there was more of that in Spider-man, a hero that's supposed to emphasise comedy.
Oh, and it appears us Brits are getting to see Iron Man 2 a week before the yanks. I look forward to the tables being turned and getting to recommend the film to you all for once (unless it sucks, of course, in which case I'll be writing Steel Samurai the usual permission slip before I post).

He also did Jason and the Argonauts (the skeleton warriors one) and the Seventh Voyage of Sinbad (with the Cyclops)
Seriously, I love his stop motion stuff.

Oh and it should be renamed CLASH OF THE SUPER-HUGE RANCOR.
