The game looks pretty cool. Once I get my Xbox I'll probably pick it up. But they say that it isn't the game that it was hailed to be for so long, I guess they didn't have time to finish all the features.

As soon as I'm done with Star Ocean 3, I'll pick this up. I plan on leaning towards the good side for my first playthrough.

I planned that.

Then there was this whiny little bastard of a kid...so I punched him.

And there were these barrels that I was supposed to 'guard', so I knocked em out and stole their shite ;)

Frankly, it's more fun to be evil in any game. While being good tends to lead to better endings and more rewards, you have to be "restrained" and careful whom you shoot. When you're evil, you can runa round willy nilly blowing the crap out of anyone and having more fun, even if it elads to your demise.

Yeah. To be good, you have to try hard everyday.

To be evil, you don't have to do squat. Just give in to your homocidal urges.

I've only played about5 minutes of Fable so far, so I can't comment on this particular case... but I tend to prefer being good.

Look at KOTOR, for example. It's story loses ALL of it's meaning and impact if you go to the Dark side. And the quests involve far less thought.

In games like Baldur's Gate, being evil is simply too hard.

Well, like I said - being evil tends to be easier of whatno, but in the end, being good reaps far more rewards and a greater sense of satisfaction. The only game I own that really does this is True Crime, where frankly, running around shooting willy nilly gets old - it's far more rewarding and enjoyable to be a "Good Cop" as opposed to a reckless "Bad Cop."

This tends to hold true in other games too, though I personally can't say anything about Fable.

But in some games, when you go you go bad, you tend to be all bad-ass and cool looking.
But that is true about KOTOR, it lost from going evil.

In Fable it pays to be evil, in the end. Seriously. It's less of a challenge being evil throughout, and thanks to the miracle of various accessible modifiers, all it takes is some careful spending to become good again. Some of the rewards you get for being evil... there's nothing that comes close to them, being good. I mean, I hate to border on spoiling things, but being exceptionally good, I actually lost out on playing certain interesting areas of the game, and the same wouldn't be true if I were evil.

That, and evil characters look a bit better in old age. The horns detract from the scars. ;)

As for impressions, I beat Fable yesterday. The game is short. The shortest game I've played in a long time, and the replay is questionable at this point. It certainly didn't live up to my expectations or the hype... though I suppose it's not that surprising. The game is still fantastic, but not as fantastic as I'd expected, and there's more fantastic out there. I daresay I enjoyed Morrowind more which, in my mind, outdid Fable in many of Fable's claimed strengths (i.e. good or evil, multiple paths, scale of world).

Again though, that doesn't detract from how good it is while it lasts, and it definitely has its high points. There's some humor and some scenarios in there that are a lot more fun than I've experienced in a while.

Definitely worth buying... though most could probably beat it in a rental.

hmmm...I found it exceptionally easy to be good....the only problems I had was I accidentally beat down a door in frustration and Cameron helped control my urge to kill the dude that makes you get the messed up hair cuts....which is directly linked with my first accident...then there was the time I accidentally lopped off someones head....

XD I just finished seeing the promo for the first time about a half hout ago.

If I hadn't known any better though, at the beginning I thought it looked like a promo for a new Zelda game. :P

Anyhow, from what I saw the graphics didn't look spectacular. *shrugs* But that's all I could tell and graphics aren't everything. My BttS is the one with the XBOX so I won't see the game in action unless he decides to rent or buy.

Fable rocks. That's all that really needs to be said. I got the game within 15 minutes of the store putting it on the shelf on release day. I already beat it once and am starting on a second game. There are four endings and all sorts of rumors are flying about secrets. I have a feeling Fable will turn out like Black & White's Creature Isle expansion pack when it comes to these things (anyone remember the huge controversy over The Source?). Peter Molyneux has done it again. The top few secrets, without getting into spoilers, are below:

1. The Sandgoose
2. The Dragon
3. The Singing Sword
4. The Scimitar

Except for #1, it's pretty much proven that all of these exist in the game. It's only how to get them that is the problem.

footnote: A sandgoose is a large flightless bird that lives in the desert of South Africa. It can speak multiple languages and possesses the intelligence of an average 3-year-old. They are very sociable and enjoy company, but are also extremely rare and have never been caught on film.
