In an announcement today, the Pokémon Company has revealed that a brand-new Pokémon RPG is set to be released later this year for the Nintendo DS. Further details are unavailable at this time.

The article mentions that the game or games will feature a brand-new Pokémon and that "everything is planned to be born anew," leading many to believe that these games are the currently hoped for fifth generation of games. This would be an interesting turn for the series to take, as two generations have never shared the primary console; while Generation II could be played on a regular Game Boy, it was designed with the Game Boy Color in mind.

The February 2010 edition of CoroCoro, due out in only a few weeks, is set to reveal a "surprising announcement", which could be related to this game, as well as the upcoming Pokémon movie, Phantom Ruler Z. With no Generation V Pokémon yet revealed, this would make for the shortest amount of time between the revelation of a brand-new Pokémon and its debut in the main series.

If there does wind up being a fifth-generation Pokémon game, there's only one Legendary that could be featured in it. This excites me.

Watch it be another Spin-off game or a Coloseum/XD type game for the Wii (though I wouldn't mind the latter).

'Sides, I can't see Gen V coming out this year since they'd probably want Heart Gold/Soul Silver to make metric assloads of money first.

Will feature a brand new Pokémon? Not more than one? Then, it could easily be a Mystery Dungeon or Pokémon Ranger game...

How about a Pokémon MMORPG? It would seem to be, kind of, perfect. Just like a Pokémon game, except the other random trainers you fight are real people...

It's just that a new pokemon has never made its first appearance outside of the main series that's got people wondering if it's the Gen V games.

I just dug my N64 out. Now I can play Snap and Stadium to my heart's content!

Maybe now I'll finally be able to beat the Gym Leaders castle. Not owning any of the gameboys games, I always have to use rental Pokémon... If I could just get my DS team on the N64 I'd destroy them!

It's not fair. My Lapras is stuck with Bubblebeam/Confuse Ray/Ice Beam/Sing and hers gets something like Blizzard/Thunderbolt/Surf/Confuse Ray.

Gym Leader castle wasn't too bad, even using an in-game team with a lot of power could wade through it, though the computer definitely abused the whole "Body Slam will always paralyze" and "OHKO moves will always connect" deals.

With my new knowledge of Pokémon I finally beat it! And won a Charmander. Also, the Doduo GB. If only I had a copy of Pokémon Blue, Red or Yellow...

It'll probably be a unique family but I'm gonna guess with a Ground/Dark Sandslash evo or a Dark/Fighting Mightyena evo.

Kind of looks like Vulpix fused with Raditz wearing Golduck feet.


But im seeing the Lucario and Mightyena similarities. However i think if its going to be the "key" Pokemon in the new film i doubt it will have evolved from anything. It will probably be revealed after Ash catches it that it was only the creator of the known multiverse.

At first glance, I imagined the top being the top bulb from Bulbasaur.  Now I have no idea how they'll make this pokemon look good.  Guess I'll have to wait and see.

Wow, those are pretty good fakes, I honestly think those could pass as actual evolutions.
