Has anyone ever noticed this: When Nintendo talks about LOZ, they say that Ganon is dead. When they talk about ALTTP, they say he was defeated. They never say that he is dead. I noticed this while reading OOT's official players guide. What do you guys think of this?

Pointless word semantics. The Triforce itself says LTTP Ganon was perfectly destroyed, and there's a differing in censorship between the two eras. You need to stop wasting your energy on stupid Youtube debates and really, really useless stretches between unrelated material.

Interesting, but wasn't ALTTP a prequel to LOZ in the first place? What did the Japanese GBA ending say? the old version only said that he was defeated.

The Triforce specifies that it grants a wish as long as that person lives, while also telling you that Ganon's dark world has disappeared. He's dead.

All versions of the LTTP ending says that Ganon was "totally destroyed." LTTP being a prequel doesn't mean anything, since Ganon can be reincarnated or resurrected just like anyone else in the whole damn Hyrule universe. It's not like Link killed his soul deader than dead.

I guess his somehow returning in LOZ is sometihng we have to live with. In LOZ, he's definitely gone. hold on. What about AST? Does it count?

Maybe, maybe not. The Tablets are a bit of a minor plot hole, to me.

Is it because his soul is then destroyed by the Hero of Light? How would he come back from that anyhow?

Wasn't Ganon revived at that time, albeit not at full power? How would the Hero/Heroine of Light destroy Ganon's soul anyway?

You're right, I just checked the text dump. So Link destroyed his body, his soul was sealed, he became partially revived, and the Hero/Heroine of Light beats him again. So his soul would still be around, right?

While his soul would still exist, I doubt that he could really do anything. In AST he only was able to revive himself and do things due to the titular tablets. At best he might be able to become a Poe.

You seem knowledgeable about this sort of thing, so I'll ask: how do you think Ganon comes back after ALttP for LoZ to happen (assuming you believe ALttP-LoZ)?

I personally believe that he was just reincarnated. He became a demon either because of his immense evil or as some sort of karmic punishment that backfired, seeing as how Ganon was a powerful demon who ruled a Makai.

Since when? The Japanese version translation on ZL says he was defeated or fallen or destroyed or whatever. The GBA version, which is actually accurate, just says he was destroyed. "Totally destroyed" was always the mistake of the SNES translation. The point is just that Ganon's soul isn't totally destroyed, he still exists in some form and can be revived.

MPS still acknowledged that Ganon's soul wasn't destroyed.

Man, I really hate the ZU members who keep making theories saying "But Ganon's soul was still alive". No shit. You never target the guy's soul. Killing Ganon still stops him.

So, do you think it's likely he was in the form of Ganondorf before he became Ganon in time for LoZ?

I personally believe that LoZ Ganon was a demon the entire time, whether it was due to his immense evil in a past life or just some sort of flawed karmic system.

Now, it's been a while, but I think in AST, it turns out that at some time during or before LTTP, Ganon put parts of his soul into the Tablets, making them basically Horcruxes or something. This is how he revives. When the Heroine of Light defeats him, the tablets lose whatever property that allowed his revival, probably sending Ganon's soul where it belongs.

I assumed LOZ Ganon turned into a monster by gaining the Triforce of Power. The cartoon supports my theory.

Well storywriters rely on the belief of reincarnation like its a deus ex machina or something.

Ganon maybe dead but can be revived *through various means* for example, in AoL the followers of Ganon were seeking to kill Link in order to sprinkle his blood on Ganon's ashes which would bring him back to life.

According to Duke, no such indication is made in AST.
I found none myself while playing through the game.

"Soul" can be replaced with "life force", then. Either way, we know he prepared the tablets to resurrect him at some point after his death, and he does say he's connected to them. I thought obvious implication was obvious, sorry.

Care to provide anything in the game that implies this?
