Telma resembles a Gerudo.
Madame Fanadi resembles a Sheikah.
Agitha resembles a Kokiri.

Whether either them are what they resemble is besides the point. They have subtle qualities of the Gerudo, Sheikah, and Kokiri respectively. Theuy all also have the same red, green, and blue marking beneath their eyes which, as far as I know, no one else in the game has so that ties the three of them together. But why?

Ganondorf was a Gerudo. He's also depicted as overweight in some incarnations. He's associated with the Triforce of Power and the color Red.
Zelda has a Sheikah alter-ego. She also could see the future. She's associated with the Triforce of Wisdom and the color Blue.
Link was raised as Kokiri. He's associated with the Triforce of Courage and the color Green. He also assocaites with the outdoors and nature, which Agitha seems to have a liking for as well.

So what does this all mean? Absolutely nothing! Just a strange pattern I noticed.

When Link isn't around, they don their white robes and old man faces, then masquerade around as Sages.

I think it was an easter egg put in by NOA, as I doubt the Japanese would have made or perhaps understood the reference.

Teruma (テルマ) and Ruiizu (ルイーズ)

It could've been intentional. NOA didn't change their names that much.

Yeah. As much as us timeline theorizers like to harp on them for changing stuff, the names are usually the same.

What probably happened was that NOA read the Japanese names out loud and said "That sounds like Thelma & Louise". I don't think it was coincidence that NOA decided on the names Telma & Louise.

What other names would they choose?
"Terma and Ruiz?"

Well, exactly. It sounds like NOA took advantage of a funny opportunity.

Since the names are pretty much the same in Japanese, wouldn't that be somebody at NoJ who did that?

Depends on what the Japanese called the original Thelma & Louise characters. If it's "Teruma & Ruizzu", then the Zelda characters would be referencing the film. If not, then the reference clearly exists only in the NOA version.

You know, we have that movie in Japan. Whenever people tries to pronounce the title, it sounds like the Japanese TP names. The reference is consistent.

@SOAP: Interesting idea, though aside from her interest in bugs, I don't see any Kokiri traits in Agatha. And she only likes those for her own delusional reasons. Closeness to nature not being one of them

I see. I was getting confused by how Masamune spelt the Japanese translation, but I guess that in the Japanese language, "Thelma & Louise" would be spelt that way as well. Fair enough then.

Well, I've known about it for ages but I don't think many people have been interested in pointing it out or spreading knowledge of that reference.

I picked up on it right away.

Anyway, while it's a cool little association of colors, I doubt that it means anything SOAP.

Yeah, Thelma & Louise is written in Japanese as "テルマ&ルイーズ", or "Teruma & Ruiizu", which is the same as Telma and her cat's names in Japanese. Definitely an intentional reference.... I don't know why they localized it as Telma instead of Thelma in English.

Probably common knowledge, but Fanadi's name is also made of references:
Farore
Nayru
Din

Zelda Wikis aren't completely worthless, after all.

I have to disagree with agatha = Kokiri.

Much too vague a resemblance to possibly mean anything.

Shes not even wearing any green.

There's also the conspicuous lack of a fairy anywhere around her.

Actually when first seeing Telma, I immediatly thought Gerudo. Fanadi completely passed me, they could well have blood of the respective races, but I doubt it's supposed to be overly significant.

In my opinion, I seriously doubt that Telma is or even a descendant of the Gerudo, as she looks almost nothing like one. Fanadi is most likely a Sheikah; Agitha is probably just an odd Hylian obsessed with bugs.

Not that I'm arguing a connection here, but her dress is mostly green.

And butterflies are closely linked to fairies; they can even turn into them. And there's a big butterfly on her dress. Her hairstyle's a bit like Fado's, too.

the Thelma and Louise one or the one with Telma, Aggatha, and Fanadi corresponding to traits of Ganondorf, Link, and Zelda respectively? I've noticed taht Telma seemed of Gerudo decent and Fanadi struck me as Sheikah with the red eyes and Sheikah symbol on her forehead for ages now. It wasn't until I connected Agatha to the Kokiri (which is mostly due to her being a child that lives without any adults and has a tree in her house) that I saw a correlation with those three and the those chosen by the Triforce. And then there's the three colored circles underneath their eyes taht seems to tie all three.

*shrug* I THOUGHT it was an interesting Easter Egg.
