I posted a comment on someone's timeline theory video on Youtube. It was a linear timeline, so i started by saying that the linear timeline is obsolete and that the split is canon. I get this as a result: (BTW my username on Youtube is Ganondorfdude11)
Ganondorfdude11 (1 week ago) Nice theory, but Eiji Aonuma confirmed the split back in March of 2007. It's undisputed canon now.
cf7725 (1 day ago) zelda has no canon, otherwise there wud be no confusion about how the timeline goes
Ganondorfdude11 (1 day ago) Zelda has canon. The creators have stated as such. Certain games go in an undisputed order. OoT-MM-TP and OoT-TWW are undisputed among serious theorizers. Eiji Aonuma has said that this is so, and it's really the only way for TP to make sense if you actually take the canon at face value and don't make stuff up.
cf7725 (3 hours ago) not really, see u dont actually know what the word legend means. its a legend. word of mouth sorto of thing. legends often get confused. we shud take the legend of zelda as such a legend. after all, if it were a not a legend, then its historical figures wud actually be named. as this is not the case, i take LOZ as wat it really is. a legend. thats why there are so many theories out there....none of them are totally rite, becuze the events have been changed over time....
Ganondorfdude11 (14 minutes ago) Nintendo has confirmed the timeline placement of several of the games. They have a giant document outlining where they're supposed to go. They haven't released an official timeline because to them it's secondary to gameplay. For example, OoT was supposed to lead right into ALttP, and then they made TWW where the world gets flooded. This necessitated a change to the master document. Nintendo has a timeline, it just fluctuates when new games come out.
I'm trying really hard not to say something like "lurn 2 spel."
Never EVER debate with people on youtube. In fact never engage in conversations with anyone in the comment section. The youtube comment sections is a cesspool for ignorance, misinformation, and racist, homophobic trolling. Oh yeah, and mispellings.
It's only a step above debating in Yahoo! Answers.
cf7725 (1 hour ago) y, as the change it, the canon changes. if canon changes, it is no longer canon....thus, nintendo has no real canon for LOZ...srry pal
If youtube wasn't doing site maintenance right now, I'd put the old Lurn 2 spel on him right now for this idiocy.

Though sometimes you can have a meaningful debate.
"They have a giant document outlining where they're supposed to go."
Nintendo does NOT have a timeline. They've confirmed the games are in continuity but do you actually believe they make a timeline after setting the story of a new game?
Its obvious Nintendo doesn't and fans have analyzed this more than anyone, in fact if they ever did release a timeline it would most likely be filled with contradictions. Like the old one from zelda.com

Yes below. And yes occasionally. But it's rare. In general it's not a good idea because then your email blows up notifying you of some asshole responses to your comments and then you can't go back with a comeback because their comments are buried beneath a whole swarm of comments that suddenly popped up last time you logged on. And if it's not some asshole it's some one getting all defensive by totally blowing your comment out of proportion. For that matter never have religious debates in the youtube comment section either.

I think you mean "Don't have religious debates anywhere on the Internet." Politics and religion were banned topic for discussion on Old West stagecoaches for a reason, you know. Same principle applies in the barren wasteland that is cyberspace.
I don't know if I should revive this thread, but check out the comments made for this timeline (some of you might remember this from the kooky theories thread). I have been a part of this arguement (for those who don't already know, my youtube name is nerfshredder3395). I am spliting it into a few parts for reasons that will be as obvious as what is being argued in these comments:
nerfshredder3395 (2 months ago) Show Hide +4 Marked as spam Reply | Remove How can Minish Cap, which has been confirmed to be a prequel to the four swords games and shows the orgins of Vaati and the Four Sword, possibly take place centuries after FSA? If you look at my timeline it destroys any post ALTTP, TP, and TWW placements. Besides that, this is one of the best single timeline theories I've seen.
handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply It merely shows the origins of Vaati the wind mage. If you look at the manuals for the four swords game for gba, it says that Vaati was a wind mage in the back story, but in MC, Vaati was a sorcerer until the very end, when he took the wind mage form. I think that Vaati used the very last of the Light Force that he had to go back in time with the Four Sword. Either way, MC is not the backstory for FS, because of the wind mage thing.
Rocthul (2 months ago) Show Hide +1 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Whether TMC is supposed to be the backstory of FS or not, Aonuma has already said it takes place before it. There is literally NO evidence to suggest he traveled back in time. And why would being a wind mage or a sorcerer be mutually exclusive?
handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply Could you show me a direct quote? There is evidence; remember how in MC when you defeat Vaati, you see him blow up, and then the screen turns white? That was not as dramatic as Vaati being sealed in FS, and I think the Light Force can allow its user to time travel. Rocthul (2 months ago) Show Hide +1 Marked as spam Reply | Spam (cont'd)
Things like time travel are obvious in Zelda games (see: OoT, MM, OoA, TP), and it is obviously not present in TMC. And you still haven't really answered why being a wind mage or a sorcerer are mutually exclusive. handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply What graphics? If you are talking about the turning pages or the rippling affects, that is just the transitions coming with the imovie. If you mean the timeline itself, or the game boxes, I just downloaded them off of Zeldawiki. I think that you can make something with better graphics if you use imovie or windows movie maker to create something of a slideshow. If you want slow effects, lengthen the transitions. I think you will prefer windows movie maker because of the variety. Vandalia1998 (2 months ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Ya
I hadto write everything bawards for it to show up forwards. look at my shirt and yonwill see what I mean handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply I know what you mean because I have seen the affects in photobooth.app I do not know if there is any way to flip a movie in movie maker, but I think that that is worth researching.
This is the funniest part:
Rocthul (2 months ago) Show Hide +1 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Oh, and this is the quote:
"NoE: How does the Minish Cap fit into the Zelda chronology? Is it a prequel to the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures on GameCube? Aonuma: Yes, this title takes place prior to The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, and tells the secret of the birth of the Four Sword." handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply ... and how long ago was this?
Seriously. This guy completely ignores that TMC has been confirmed to be a prequel to the FS games. Here's the rest of the arguement:
nerfshredder3395 (13 minutes ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Remove These are the levels of canon in the zelda universe: 1. Japanese versions 2. US/European versions 3. Creators comments. Really. The only thing I am trying to tell this guy is that TMC is a prequel to the FS games. Nintendo even said so. I haveeven placedsome doubt with TMC being first lately mostly because I heard somewhere that ST is going to be a prequel to TMC. nerfshredder3395 (3 weeks ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Remove Why do you place TMC last? It was made as a prequel to the FS games and Vaati's back story in FS was probably retconned. This is really a stupid arguement because TMC is OBVIOUSLY a prequel to FS and FSA. The interview that confirmed this mentioned somewhere in these comments was actually an interview from around the time TMC was released. supersonic90001 (1 week ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Actually, the interview said FS was the oldest tale. This was before TMC came out. TMC is an obvious prequel to FS so it must come first. It cannot come last because it explains the origins of the Four Sword, which was originally the Picori Blade. The Four Sword was used in both Four Sword games. nerfshredder3395 (1 week ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Remove What do you think I've been trying t otell this idiot for the last few months? It is so obvious that TMC is a prequel. It is also a confirmed prequel. And does the guy who made this know the definition of parallel? grossnesstudeos (5 days ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Only in Japan. Since HUGE elements are missing from the English/us/translated versions, I suggest that the "real" timeline is only real in Japan, and thus, we can not debate anything about it without the absolute translation, which is not very possible because English is not mixed Japanese. This timeline seems to be based on 100% in-game evidence, which means that your accusations about MC being first do not pertain to this timeline. Also, the timeline changes. * nerfshredder3395 (3 weeks ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Remove At 6:17 you said that Ganon ditched the Trident in LOZ. Actually, he didn't. LOZ's Ganon DID have the trident in LOZ. It just didn't exist in the real world until 1991 so in wasn't in the original game. Ganon's not having the trident was retconed by BS LOZ(japanese only remake of LOZ) and in Nintendo's official ALTTP players guide while talking about the story of LOZ because he has it in both of these sources. Basically, Nintendo retroactivly added the trident to LOZ. BenseiHur (1 month ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Could you give me a link to the Winner of the contest? I'd really like to see how the best one did.
I'm sorry if I sounded arrogant in the last few comments, I just wanted to discuss. I'm always interested in what other gamers think about the confusing Timeline I want to make my own in the future. And as any Timeline-Creator, I want it to be perfect XD BenseiHur (1 month ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam c-> So the Triforce of Courage (and as a conclusion the Triforce as a whole) cant re-appear. So Miyamotos Timeline after OoT makes totally sense: OoT-> Triforce is parted by Ganondorf (Zelda IIs backstory probably happens with the OoT Zelda), Loz+Aol-> Triforce is re-united by Link, ALttP -> Ganon managed to get alive again and to gather the whole Triforce (I dont know how either, its a gap). supersonic90001 (1 week ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Yah but that interview was mistranslated. The sleeping Zelda was Zelda I but the Triforce of Courage just hadn't been locked up until after Ganon stole the Triforce of power and the Triforce of wisdom was broken into 8 shards. BenseiHur (1 month ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Also, I dont understand why gamers jump onto details like a white flash after Vaatis death to jump to wild time travel explanations and then overlooking as simple fact as the unity of the Triforce. The backstory of Zelda II didnt only mention that every princess is called Zelda, but also that the Triforce was not complete, and the Triforce of Courage was probably hid until Link re.united the Triforce in Zelda II by replacing the six crystals. c-> BenseiHur (1 month ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam b->The player decides which game goes first. I dont think an official timeline would introduce something as complicated as ZELDA copying Hyrule (imo two hyrules exist because of the OoT Time split, and Zelda stopped exchange between those Timelines by sending Link back) without explaining it in-game. BenseiHur (1 month ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam a-> but for a friend. It could also be Skull Kid whom he searched for.
I dont think that OoA and OoS play in the exact same time or different Timelines/Dimensions, thats imo just speculation. Theres no need for an explanation why the intros were slightly different (my suggestion: just dramatization as it is with legends OR he came to the Triforce by day/dusk and after he saved the land he was sent to he has to ride all the way back to get to the next land, which of course takes time). b-> BenseiHur (1 month ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam "Hyrule was created ten years before the events of OoT" Where did you get that information from? I only have the CE and the Bonus disc from WW, so I doN't have the original manual...
I think those pics in OoT are just random. FS was created YEARS later, by CAPCOM (Flagstaff?). I don't think that he was created that early in the series and hinted by such a small thing. It could also be the one-eayed boss from LoZ (1). As far as I remember the game or manual never said he searches for Navi, a-> Rocthul (2 months ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam I have an old grey-brick DS, but I do have a Wii. As for my timeline, I'm going to have to wait until Spirit Tracks is released. For the longest time, many of us assumed that Link and Tetra would find a new Hyrule after TWW, but none of us had any proof for it except TWW's vague ending that may or may not hint at it. I'm hoping ST not only proves a new Hyrule, but makes stronger ties with Four Swords trilogy moreso than Phantom Hourglass. handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply Spirit Tracks has been confirmed to take place in the same world as Phantom Hourglass (at e3 I think). If PH takes pllace in the same world as the new Hyrule, ST takes place in the new Hyrule. Like you said, we have no evidence. handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply I understand what you mean by "grey-brick" because three of my siblings have one. Too bad you want to wait for ST to come out; the contest ends this month, and the reward is Nintendo points. I do not have a DSi or a wii; I merely entered this contest to get it more popular, and to start getting the contest popular. I still have a ds lite, which I got new about a year ago. I think it has at least 450 charges before the battery lasts 80%. Vwashk (1 month ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Not at E3, and it was an NoA person. NoA is... lol. Seriously NoA is terrible. While right now ST is likely to go after PH, I won't believe it to be confirmed until I have the game and it implies such, or Miyamoto/Aonuma(/anyone important to the actual story). Rocthul (2 months ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam True, but Zelda is pretty much infamous for backstories not quite matching up with the games that represent them. Remember OoT being the Seal War? That and ALttP (GBA) literally says in the intro how legends of past events "become obscured by the mists of time". handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply But it is clear in the game itself that the legend took place not that long before the game's events. The flute-playing person and the monster and the ball all went looking for the Golden Power. I don't think that anyone went to the Golden Land/Dark World after the sages' seal. Can we at least agree that MC does not come before OoT? The full legend ends with the statement that the light force still flows through the veins of Princess Zelda, so MC Zelda can not be the 1st Zelda. Rocthul (2 months ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Yeah, I personally don't think the timeline starts with TMC, so I agree on that. Personally, I think PH makes strong ties with the Four Swords series. As for the Seal War thing, don't look at me, Toru Osawa's the one who said that OoT was meant to be the Seal War. However, I think it's completely possible developer intent has changed from that. handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply The citizens, who were probably the people who passed down the legend, only saw Vaati as a dark sorcerer in Minish Cap. Link was the only one who saw the wind mage form. Rocthul (2 months ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Considering how close Link is with the Royal Family in the Four Swords trilogy (and Spirit Tracks as far as I can tell), it is completely possible he tells them. That wouldn't be far-fetched considering Aonuma said that after OoT kid Link told kid Zelda what happened and that's how Ganondorf was sent to be executed (as we see in Twilight Princess). handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply the backstory of FSA also says that Vaati "terrorized the people of Hyrule and kidnapped many beautiful girls from their homes." Vaati did none of that in MC. ninjaturtlepower1 (2 months ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Nice timeline, dude. Check out mine. Its part of the contest, too, but it hasn't been added yet. handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply Yours is good, but it went a bit too fast. Is it possible to extend your time on Movie Maker(Yes, I read the comments). Is it a video response to the contest video? if not, it is not entered into the contest officially. handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply Time travel is obvious when YOU are doing it. You don't time travel at all in MC. Rocthul (2 months ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam But you are insinuating Vaati does just because of a flash. The Light Force, according to the original Japanese, is the very same as the Force Gems. It is merely the source of all magic in Hyrule. Every time time-travel is featured in the games, there usually is some type of item to aid in this (Master Sword, Harp of Ages, etc.). Vaati has no such thing, and a simple flash does not prove any time travel at all. All it is is a flashy (pun not intended) death animation. handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply But I think we both agree that Vaati may not have died in MC. I imagine that the Master Sword did not cause time travel, because Link only traveled through time in OoT because he was too young to be the hero. If you only want to criticize, I suggest that you make your own timeline. Rocthul (2 months ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Personally, I don't think he did die. Technically, young Link turning into adult Link is not time travel (except by moving forward in time one second per second), but putting the Master Sword back and turning back into young Link IS time travel. Also, I'm sorry about the criticism, but what else would you expect in these comments besides praise? And I do have my own timeline, I just don't think its necessary to put it into video form. handheldgamer144 (2 months ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply I am sure we would all like to see your timeline. Do you have a wii or a DSi?
*This particular comment was completely stupid.
This arguement is pointless and funny at the same time.
Note: The youtube member called supersonic90001 is the only good youtube theorist I have seen. I think some of us should join youtube and knock some sense into those timeline theorists.
