Wow Flint, those videos were pretty bad. That Bush analogy was pretty bad too, considering that the context was totally different. Also, I keep getting distracted by the fact that he looks like Bane from the Matrix trilogy.

Hard to believe something like this was once considered a legitimate theory. "OoT future is the Dark World," remember this one?

I take the lack of references to TToTT as full acceptance of its truth.

Something else interesting. I'm not sure if this is considered in most people's timelines or ideas in general, but the Age of Chaos mentioned here is something apparently found in the AoL manual about the Age of Chaos on Hyrule. Apparently it took place before Ganon came to power, and continued after he died. Are we to believe that there is some greater source of evil?

It was just a period of turmoil and civil wars during which Ganon invaded Hyrule and stole the Triforce. No indication of a greater evil at work, just disorder. Maybe it was some time after the Good King of the AoL backstory died and there was a power vacuum.

I always thought that was a parody...

Hey, now, that's just mean. Consider the context: At the time, it was one of the least stupid, plot-hole-ridden theories around.

Judging a theory because of games that weren't released yet at the time is still a jackass thing to do, and missing the point of the thread. It's not a kooky theory if it made sense at the time and just got discredited.

Okay, then. Moving on, anybody remember Picman's "Link is only half-Hylian because the Deku Tree impregnanted Link's mother with one of its seed pods?"

Shows how deep the game is if you can read all these hidden meanings into it. Even if they weren't supposed to be there.

I think TV tropes has an article on this phenomenon: What do you mean, It's Not Symbolic?

I repressed it like a trauma until you assholes dug it up again. Now I want to kill myself. This is like losing the Game times a hundred: You think of it, you lose at life.

That's one of the first theories I ever saw, and it was the first I thought had more holes than a piece of swiss cheese. It requires a massive amount of stretching and doesn't seem coherent. Whether or not games like TWW had come out yet, that theory was flawed from day one.

Yeah, I always thought the Future = Dark World thing was pretty shaky. It relied too heavily on semantics. I still think it's a neat AU idea, I just never thought it was likely to be canon.

Hey, I really liked the Majora's Mask one!
Of course it wasn't meant to be that way. The developers certainly did not come up with all those hidden meanings and stuff, but I just loved that article.

Besides, the mentioned phaluses. A lot.
The child in me giggled for hours.
...
Wow that sounded gay!

Wow. It's not so much that the theory is whack, it's the fact that people actually are praising it that's shocks me the most. "Durrr, duuurrr! Yup, totally possible. DUUUURRR!" WTF!

How is it that I just guessed that the link would be to ZU without actually seeing it? ^^

Termina is a neighboring country to Hyrule, and the Happy Mask Salesman is a NINJA!

They have. They just ignore them or try to twist around what "parallel universe" means. This problem is most notable on the IGN boards. Also, the IGN boards still believe in the Linear Timeline only because they don't like the idea of a split and they love to pick which developer quotes they'll accept and which can't be trusted.

Excatly how bad is the IGN board? Like, is there a topic you can show which demonstrates that level of idiocy? I mean, if GameFAQs has decent timeline topics, IGN can't be that terrible, can it?

Before you read this thread, keep in mind that the member named Volvagia_slayer is supposed to be IGN's main Zelda "intellectual".
