Place of Birth: Unknown
Age: over 800 under 1200
Date of Birth: Unknown
Height/Weight/Physical Description: Relatively young hes about 32 feet from the back of his tail to the tip of his nose. His wingspan is nearly 40 feet. His weight...? well if you tried to aquire that you would be smashed with a tail, swiped with a claw, or incinerated into a pile of ash.
Race: Fire dragon.
Parents' Names & Occupations: Their names are also unpronouncable, and there was no one there to give them a name that could be understood in this tongue.
Friends' Names & Occupations: Those he knew are in the land which he left. The only "friend" he has now is the wanderer named Arato who helped him several years ago, whom he has not seen since.
Education: Trained only a little by some of the elder fire dragons he previously dwelled with, mostly about the history of dragons, and the ancient times of the world. The majority of his education is self taught.
Hobbies/Recreations: He spends a lot of his time honing his fighting skills and trying to stay in shape.
Personal Qualities (imagination, taste, etc.): He is very impulsive. Lately he is becoming wising and slower to act.. but it is a process which he has only just begun. He keeps a lot to himself, but is very talkative to anyone who he befriends. He is lonely so he doesnt mind sharing.
Tastes in food, drink, art, music, literature, decor, clothing: Diov enjoys natural beauty. He has spent long periods of time staring at the sun as it sets, or rises (his eyes are not burned) or looking at various natural rock formations, etc. As far as food, he enjoys red meat, only animals such as deer, or cattle etc. He is willing to eat birds occasionaly, mostly as quick snacks, and will also sometimes eat certain plants and fruits purely for nutritional value.
Ambitions: To find a mate and propigate his race. A part of him also longs to be understood by people.
Fears/Anxieties/Hang-ups: That his race is doomed to extinction. He has spent many a night wondering about the future of his race. While there are seemingly many earth dragons, there are very few fire dragons left (probobly due to the fact that earth dragons eat mostly plants and thus are less of a threat) and hes also partly upset about the lack of his kind because he has yet to meet a potential mate.
Intelligence: He is very knowledgable of history, other than that only general knowledge of the world and then a lot of random seemingly needless information. He has knowledge of many languages, but lacks the social etiquette associated with the races from whom the languages originate.
Sense of Humor: Mostly humor that bashes someone else. Example, before his wing got hurt he beat a wind dragon in a race, he found mocking that wind dragon very funny. Someone joking about his current flight status? he would probobly not care because that person would be a tiny pile of charred ash.
Health/Physical Condition/Distinguishing Marks/Disabilities: His right wing was hurt in a battle, it has several puncture wounds and a few places with broken bones, it sits differently on his body than a normal wing, and has not recovered yet. He is out of shape from the lack of constant flight, but this has strengthed his limbs somewhat.
Weapons: His claws, teeth, fire-breath, and his tail can all be used as weapons.
Attire/Appearance: His eyes are steely gray. Claws and teeth are silver. His scales are crimson red, and wont be fading from age for many many more millenia. As they go onto his chest they darken considerably, some fire dragons have been known to aquire black scales on their chest for reasons unknown, probobly frequent extended combat. The scales on his wings are of the same pure red coloring. The inside of his wings being slightly lighter, and almost thin enough in a few places to see the blood flow in his veins. On his right wing, the places where he has sustained injury appear blood red, regardless of position.
Attitude toward Life: The majority of people think of dragons as clueless ogres so he does no care at all about their lives. But, being one of the few remaining fire dragons he feels for the plight of someone who is also alone.
Philosophy of Life (in a phrase): "Take what you want, give only to whom you owe, and never look back."
Strengths: Pure physical strength, and defense from his scales, and also the ability to breath fire. He also has a huge endurance to any type of fire magic, and when he recovers he will be a strong flyer.
Weaknesses: His wing was hurt in combat, so he cannot fly very well or for very long, at least not without further damaging his wing. Though he has lived for a very long time, and has experienced many things, he still foolishly rushes into situations before he thinks about the consequences. That also partly being the reason for his damaged wing. Parts of him are out of shape from his lack of constant flight, rendering him unable to maintain a very steady stream of fire breath. And, as all fire dragons, he is susceptible to cold or water. Also, other known misconceptions about dragons are their relationship to magic, Diov cannot use any kind of magic, unless you consider fire breath magic, in which case you need to study your dragon anatomy.
His views on certain people groups: He partly holds the empire of Kinaan, and partly The order of the Dragon, as the Dragon Knights were once known, responsible for the systematic slaying of the black dragons, "enslavement" of certain dragons, and he lumps the near extinction of his kind to them as well.
Bio: Diov was the last child of 2 aging dragons. There were other fit males in the clan he belonged to, but no females capable of bearing young. When he was born as a male, the elders realized their line had ended, and their clan would die. The other males immediately left to seek other fire dragon clans and find mates, however, Diov was too young so he was forced to remain. He was taught by his parents and the elders for several hundred years until his instincts began to take hold of him and he left his home.
While travelling across Sharom, may i note this is hundreds of years after he left, specifically over the Dren Hills of Skye, Diov discerned the familiar smell of smoke. He saw a small town below, in flames. With his keen eyes he was able to pick out the silhouettes of 4 dragon riders below. He decided they were attacking the village and he should help the villagers fight off the riders. He immediately went into a dive for 1 of the riders. Catching them off gaurd, he smashed one pair, rider and dragon, into the ground. He immediately half jumped and half flew above the other riders. One, with a bow began firing at him, but they missed as he went into a quick spin followed by a rush for a second rider. As he rammed into the second rider, it impacted on his right wing fracturing it in several places. As they fell with him he grabbed onto a third rider, ramming the mount into the ground killing the rider instantly, and he then finished off his dragon with a quick neck snapping bite. Now on the ground he targeted the original pair he had bodyslammed. A quick breath of fire killed the rider, and the slam of his tail did the same for his dragon. At this point 2 riders remained.. one in the air with a bow and spear, the other with a sword on the ground. He brought forth as much fire as he could muster and released it at the grounded rider, whose dragon was barely able to dodge it. His muscles ached as he thrust his hind legs into the ground for an offensive leap on the barely aerial rider. The rider jumped from his dragon, attempting to slice Diov's neck with his sword, while his dragon rushed to bite in a similar area. Diov managed to spiral in the air and catch the rider with his claws, then releasing his limp body to the ground. The rider's mount desirous to save his master, diverted course and dived to catch him, he managed to, and landed safely on the ground... soon followed by Diov. As soon as he landed, Diov spun and slammed his tail into the dragon, knocking him away from the fallen rider. The dragon upon a second collision with a nearby building was slain. At this point Diov had incurred several arrow wounds, mostly on his sides, and was prepared to focus on the final rider. Out of arrows, and desperate for a killing blow the rider and his dragon did a sweeping lunge onto the ground. The rider separated from his dragon, rolling on the ground to left side of Diov, and the separated dragon to the right side. Seeing how he was surrounded, Diov turned for the wind dragon, he breathed once more his powerful fire breath, but it was nimbly dodged by the dragon, at the same time his tail swung at the rider, though ducked under. Diov quickly grabbed ahold of the recovering dragon with his claws, and with a second quick neck bite, finished the last enemy dragon. Feeling the slide of a spear head on his underbelly, realizing the knight must be going for a stab through his heart, Diov turned, and half using his own girth, and half the dragon he still held flung the rider at least 25 feet from where he was. He began a final breath of fire, and just as he beheld it engulf his enemy, he fealt the bristles of a spear slide against his neck, before the piercing pain as it caught on his right shoulder. He soon felt the warmth of his blood as it flowed between the scales on his right leg, he looked around quickly for more enemys, the third rider which he had assumed he killed was sitting up, he uttered only, "justice" before slumping over, dead. Wounded, Diov did the best he could to fly some distance away. He collapsed behind a hill not too far from the battle, but out of sight. A wanderer had noticed the commotion some time ago and had final made his way to the village. It was Arato. He did the best he could to help the villagers, before noticing a feint and very sparce blood trail under the flight path of Diov. After 30 minutes Arato found the large body of an unconcious dragon. He looked quickly for signs of a rider.. When none was found... well, ill let Arato tell you the rest of his side on his own time. Diov, now becoming conscious felt instead of the pain of the barbed spear, and the sting of the arrows, a strange tingling sensation. He had cloth covered in a strange liquid on his sides and shoulder, and stints in the places of his wing with broken bones. He arose suddenly, almost knocking loose the bandages which now adorned him. He looked around, and saw only Arato, who at this point was a bit startled.
"Who are you" was the first question asked by Diov.
"Arato" was the reply. "Then who are you?" was the rebuttle.
Diov, pausing to think a bit replied, "My name.. is unpronouncable, if you must hear it, it is.." (Diov proceeds to produce some strange gutteral sounds) After a short conversation they agree on Diov as a name, purely for communications sake. Staring into his golden eyes, Diov listens as Arato shares his past, of his villages destruction, and quest to get revenge on Vashta Negru. Diov explains his situation and pledges to help Arato in his quest, as payment.. and also because he has sympathy for one in a similar plight, but due to his injuries it is decided he is unable to fulfil this obligation currently. As Arato departs, Diov collapses down once more, still exhausted from his fight. As he awakens he reflects on what has happened, wants to help Arato, but is forced to remain on Skye for many more months. Afterwards he flies onto the north hammer coast, barely avoiding detection from the large patrolling navy. Forced to overexhert himself, his wing was damaged in the flight, rendering him nearly unable to fly. He then, trying to avoid towns, slowly proceeds inland, towards lake cha. To find and repay Arato, possibly to get revenge on the Dragon Knights, and hoping to find a mage to heal his wounds.
I know Arato in real life, so he can vouch for my willings to abide by the rules. We talked it over and decided on a good way to intigrate him into the story as well. I looked at all the characters, all 18 year old human mages or fighters.. then maybe what, 1 blood dwarf and a faerie? Needed more variety so i came up with a nice dragon character. If you just dont like the idea of a 32 foot dragon included in the story then i'll immediately change, probobly to a purple vampiri. But Diov does not seem too unbalanced to me, hes not TOO powerful (and i certainly dont plan on flying around incinerating villages and killing off main characters for no reason) and he does have his share of weaknesses. One decent mage who could use ice spells correctly could still immobilize him in seconds, or even kill him, if the spell was properly cast and strong enough. And as seen in the bio, warriors trained in the art of dragon warfare know the weaknesses, and could possibly take him down.
Also, another problem i might forsee is that you could complain about the lack of initial bio. He was trained for years as a dragon, nothing really big there, no huge events. Then a couple hundred years looking for a mate, still no real events. The character development starts when Arato helped him, and continues from that point.
And as for language, for sake of writing, we are going to assume he can just speak languages in an audible format.
I probobly overlooked something, or need improvement somewhere, so please post suggestions, and once its good, approve
