Prologue

It is 2018. Much of the world has changed. China has changed to democracy, following the path of the US(except for healthcare; China has universal now), and has joined with Taiwan to create the Middle Kingdom Republic of China(MKRC). Japan and China are now brothers and assist each other in economic development. India has become a major source for oil and other fossil fuels. The UN has elected Norway, Denmark, and Germany to its Security Council as members for the next 10 years. Operation Bacon, a worldwide UN task, has been executed and much of Africa is now out of poverty. President Chen, the first Asian leader of the USA, has managed to supervise a small government there based on the States' own. Coal has been abandoned, and nuclear power seems the way of the future. Turbines, hydro, and, surprisingly, treadmills also convert into energy. But no world is perfect. There are always flaws and in this one the flaws are, surprisingly......politics.

Much of the world, except for China and other Middle Eastern countries, has adopted the US electoral system as their own. In many countries, Republicans are in control. But there is always corruption. It all started in 1 place....in Vietnam.

The Republicans were elected in 2015 in Vietnam by a massive majority. As soon as the President sat down in his office, plans were drawn up to take over the other countries and put in US electoral systems. Within 3 months, Korea, Pakistan, and Laos were under Vietnamese control. The United States and other Democrat-controlled countries protested at this. Soon, the US declared war on Vietnam, starting World War III. Nuclear missiles were shot, destroying almost everything...

10 years later....

The world has changed much. Very much. The entire planet is now in ruins. Only 3 million humans have survived. Most of the survivors live in small communities, one day ready for revenge. The Vietnamese were the most victorious, having taken shelter in underground tunnels from almost 100 years ago. The Laotians have also managed to survive so-so. However, it is the United States that lost the most, with only 2 million survivors. China and the other Asian countries are hidden. Living conditions are difficult, with most people having to labor to try and grow food in other ways. Farmers have managed to fertilize surviving fields and grow some food. It is harsh, and many try to loot and gain. But a group of brave soldiers from the States are prepared to fight back. Arming themselves with a small cache of weapons, they plan to travel around the world, and start everything over again. Neutralists just wanting to seek out a new life and rebuild the world. This...is the Baker Team.

Choose the Republican side....and fight the Baker Team and other left-wingers. Revenge for invading those countries without mercy is your main priority. Choose the Democrat side....and fight the Vietnamese and other right-wingers; only attack Baker Team members if they get in your way. Revenge for the nuclear missiles being launched is your main priority.
Choose to be part of the Baker Team....and fight whoever gets in your way. Rallying survivors to your cause is your main priority.

I'm intrigued.

So what's happened? Are we looking at a nuclear holocaust, or more vanilla death and destruction? I'm just trying to gather what the environment of the Earth is gonna be like.

Sorry, I forgot to put that in.

Well, both sides used some nukes(by some I mean 2-5) on their major cities. Then it's mostly just regular air bombings and the ground fights. Right now, Earth would be in ruins, in some spots there'd be a lot of radiation(bad), and most people would be living in small villages.

So if I pictured the world looking like something out of the Mad Max series minus all the crazy bondage gear I'd be on the right track?

Hooook. Sorry about the time delay. It was ridiculous, I know.

The idea of a war based on the right vs. the left is a good one. First of all though, it is very unlikely that the right wing would still be called republicans and left democrats in other countries. Unless you can come up with a good reason to keep it that way, change it to something a bit more generic.

Secondly, you need to put a little bit more description into the world situation just before the breakout of war. Africa was free from poverty, yes, but what was it's political situation? What's Europe been doing besides having a few members on the security council? And, most importantly, what about Australia? Do some research on the current political situation of these countries in order to come up with a (relatively) realistic view of what they might be like 30 years in the future.

Thirdly, give us a wee bit more description as to the course of the war. How did it progress? Who "won"? Where were the nukes dropped?

Finally, we need to know a lot more about the world the players are going to be Role Playing in. What's the political situation? Factions? Technology? Living conditions? Revenge against who? Do you have a specific plot in mind, or are you just going to see how it goes?

The idea has a great deal of promise, it just needs some fleshing out.

I guess I'll join up; I'm a little confused as to how this is all gonna play out, but I can always fake it till I make it. Let me see what kind of human characters I have approved from years ago.

edit: Getcha self some form!

So, I'm planning to use my freshly approved character, Oliver Mason in your RPG. He's kind of a special character, though, if you bother to read his form. Basically I made him a blank slate to be developed throughout the course of the RPG so he can be tailor-made to fit particular niches, so his "form" that you provided will be a little empty as of right now.

Name: Oliver Mason
Age: I'm gonna say mid 20s
Gender: Male

These next bits are subject to development as the RPG unfolds. His general "power" so to speak is to become very proficient at a particular skill, and his appearance and personality will shift with it accordingly. Whatever role he fits into will dictate these-- think of it as Fable, perhaps.
Appearance: Average, unremarkable build. Medium height. Dark features; brown eyes and dark brown hair.
Weapons: None.
Personality: Unremarkable, perhaps a little shy and naiive.

These final two parts I wanted to confer with you about. I'm interested in playing the "bad" side, the Republicans. If you do read Oliver's background in my submission form, you'll see there's a good deal of sci-fi about him-- he is one of many clones that make up a hive consciousness, and the organization in the future that developed him sends him back in time implanted with specific missions in order to change the past to meet their own ends. I can use as much or as little as you'd like, depending on how grounded in reality you want this to be. I could never actually mention it and leave him sort of confused about his own past, or work his motivation for being on the Republican side into a greater overarching significance for the future. Or somewhere in between. Just thought I'd give you a say since its your RPG.
Other Details: His mother was in the United States military, stationed in South Korea. Oliver and his father were on the base visiting as tensions began to flare worldwide, and were trapped there when Vietnam invaded. They remained safe through the nuclear attacks in a bunker in the military base. Oliver was young when this took place, and has been raised on a steady diet of jaded disgust with America from both of his parents, who feel forsaken by their former country. They support the Republican side, despite sticking out like three sore thumbs in a decidedly Asian country. Oliver's family still lives on the base with a small coeterie of other American survivors; most have become subsistence farmers, doing what they can with the uranium and plutonium-tainted soil. Oliver helps out when he can, but keeps mostly to himself; he hasn't quite decided what role he's going to play in rebuilding the world.
Political Side: Republicans

I'll have a crack at it. Can't promise to be good, but I'll give it a try. This is a new world for me, I've never really RP'd in a Post apocolyptic world before. I'll think up a character and get back to you.

I'm not used to politically charged, post-apocalyptic roleplay, but I would be willing to give it a shot.
