Name: Forgotten Heroes: The Second Stand
Original: Yes
Genre: Dark Fantasy, Action, Adventure
Setting: The newly-formed Alladian Empire, spanning the continent of Allade
The Story, Abbreviated: Thirty years ago, the world was on the brink of destruction. With tensions strained for some time, the tentative peace broke, and the many kingdoms of Allade declared war upon one another, and all the land was swept with death and sorrow. The war was a ruse, a plan construed and executed by the Black King, Valadin, lord of the newly captured kingdom of Valadia. In the chaos, he marched his forces swiftly and unexpectedly across the continent, conquering nearly half of Allade before facing any true resistance. It seemed nothing could stop the Valadian forces from taking all of Allade...
Rumors began to spread of a group of young men and women, little more than children, who challenged the tyrant and his forces wherever they found them. Their efforts helped to save the remaining free kingdoms from destruction, and turned the tide against Valadin. Though the Black King used his terrible powers to summon monsters from beyond the span of reality, these young fighters bested these horrific creatures, and before long battled the Black King himself. The battled was long and arduous, and Valadin's mastery of the dark arts nearly cost the young fighters their lives. However, with their powers united, they were able to defeat and slay the Black King, and end his tyranny for good. The remaining kingdoms allied their forces, and together invaded and destroyed the kingdom of Valadia, scattering its people and reclaiming the territory. These kingdoms ended their feuds with one another, and peace spread across the land. The young heroes were titled the Warriors of Destiny, and great songs and stories were written in their praise.
Since that day, much has changed. The surviving kingdoms united to form one central power, known as the Alladian Empire. Young Prince Alain, one of the Warriors of Destiny, was selected to be the Emperor. For many years, the Empire ruled in peace and prosperity, and the citizens were glad and secure. For twenty-five years, things went easily and uneventfully for the people of Allade. Then, things turned for the worse; reports of terrible creatures in the wilderness began to come in; stories of beasts with horrible forms who would attack anyone unlucky enough to stumble across them. The Empire, fearing the dark arts of Valadin had opened a gateway for these creatures, baned the practice of all magical acts, as to avoid opening any new gateways. Despite the ban and increased soldier patrols on the roads, monsters continued to multiply and attack.
Dissent began to fester in the Empire; its citizens, once proud and happy, now feared for their lives. The Empire, fearing revolution, used fear to quell any resistance, while Imperial scholars worked day and night, trying to unearth the cause of the monster surge. Years passed, and little was found; only scare tactics and brute force kept the Empire from collapsing. Scouts began reporting troubling news: Men, wearing the Valadian uniforms, had been spotted just beyond the Imperial borders. The Empire, dreading a Valadian assault, kept the news from the public, planning in secrecy. Finally, news long-feared broke across the entire Empire: The former territories of Valadia had been attacked and captured.
Thirty years after the fall of the Black King and Valadia, the Alladian Empire mobilizes its troops, ready to wage war against what seems to be a reformed Valadian force. However, the truth is far more sinister, and few men, not even the Emperor, know what horror stirs in the southern reaches of Allade. Days before the Alladian army will march to battle, a small assortment of men and women are requested to come to the small village of Oslia. These people, each one a former Warrior of Destiny, are the only hope the world has against the worst adversary mankind has ever faced...
Rules:
All standard rules apply, such as no godding, no random appearance of powers, so on and so forth. Also, characters must meet these criteria, no exceptions:
A) They must have been an original Warrior of Destiny. As such, they would now be middle-aged.
B) As they are middle-aged, and there has been relative peace for over two decades, they are not to be terribly up-to-date on their training. In fact, they should somewhat suck, to be blunt.
C) Your character may have special moves or talents, but these, too, should be rusty and require relearning.
Also, if you want to play a character who uses magic, please shoot me a message first. I warn you now, magic is frowned upon in the Alladian Empire, and its use is illegal and could get you killed outright. It is also somewhat unstable. However, it is quite powerful, and if you are willing to accept the consequences, it can be incredibly useful.
One last things, it's all humans. Alladian Empire is very xenophobic, so if it doesn't look like a person, it's gonna get several swords in it. No dwarves, no elves, no shape-shifters who can look like humans but still have the power of twenty full-grown silverback gorillas. No.
If anyone wants more information, shoot me a message and I'll see what I can do for ya.

Frak, I thought I'd posted something on this! I'm sorry!
Interesting concept but I'll need to know more about these retired heroes people and how they're supposed to be played. Since you probably know as well as I do that RPers seem to have issues with playing older characters.

The way I see it, if you looked at the heroes when they were younger, they'd be the stereotypical group: Mages, healers, tanks, fighters, thiefs, rogues, all those basic rpg classes. Then, going from there, it's a decision of where a character's life would lead them after their quest was over. If the character was a loner and individualistic person, they'd probably be living alone at the start of the game, with little contact in the outside world. A thief might have taken the money and treasures he found during the quest and used it to live a rich life in some small village; as a result, he might have become lazy and cowardly, too used to comfortable living. A mage might have been a prominent aide to the Emperor, helping him to understand the hidden ways of the world, until the recent ban on magic, in which case he would be exiled and hunted.
Also, if any players wanted to create a character, but wanted more information to further expand upon their character's history, I have quite a bit of stuff I've been working on, and I'd be glad to aid players in creating their characters to fit the setting. What I'm mostly looking for are people who were once extraordinary, and have had to deal with being ordinary and forgettable for a long time, and now have to choose whether they want to go through it all again. They might have families they'll be leaving behind; they would be leaving all the comforts they're used to just to face death and evil. Or, maybe they had nothing to live for anyways, and they want to jump back into the fray, if only to give their meaning life again.
Hopefully that helps to answer your question
