Character: Fheredin Iago Diysan "Fheredin"

Original: Yes

Origin: Zelda fan fiction adapted to Dragon Lords

Race/Nationality: Human/ Golar (nation in Glod)

Age: 28

Height: 5' 3"

Weight: 63 kgs.

Build: light

Hair: Black, short, poorly disciplined

Eyes: Hazel

Attire: Very dark blue tunic, dark gray slacks, light (thin-soled) leather boots. Armaments discussed in weapons section.

Face: Roughly shaven, usually with a few nicks (he shaves with his dagger once every few days.)

Armament: Dagger (suspended upside-down from left shoulder) Longsword (left hip) Medium heater shield (center of back,) Hardened leather gauntlets/gloves on forearms.

Strengths: Fheredin wears no armor so he can specialize in speed and run circles around his opposition. He can dodge or evade most hits, but has no compunctions about using his shield. Generally, he uses his dagger to optimize his speed, at the expense of offensive power and range.

Fheredin's armored gauntlets allow him to "command" (grab) most weapons, which in turn allows him to attack with his dagger. He is also fast enough to run around most opponents and attack from behind (or, if the opponent is slightly faster than ordinary, he may run one direction for a while, then reverse direction and close. He is also exceedingly proficient with his dagger.

Fheredin also has an original technique: the flip-strike (which requires a nearby vertical surface or tree.) He jumps up and does a 3/4ths back flip, then extends his legs to push off the vertical surface to produce a "flying sidekick punch" (can also be done with his dagger.) The punch attack is strong enough to knock back all but the most heavy of opponents, and the dagger attack penetrates all but the best of armors. It is exceedingly difficult to block and can be camouflaged for most of it's duration as a glorified dodge and, should the opportunity for it's use disappear, be landed as a normal flip.

The flip-strike lands enough damage (it has his full body-weight behind it, after all) that Fheredin can often use it as a one-hit KO. By the time most opponents realize it isn't a normal dodge, they're unconscious.

Weaknesses: The flip-strike can be dodged or deflected by most opponents with the presence of mind to see through the camouflage and react immediately. It is also vulnerable to being grappled with or magic.

Fheredin cannot use any magic at all, and so has an innate dislike of magic and magic users. He is also quite vulnerable to magic attacks or to pole-arms which can keep up with his speed.

Fheredin prefers to not use his sword, as that it reduces his speed. He can use it, but his skills with it are mediocre at best. He wears the sword as a reserve weapon in the event the dagger breaks and for the respect the sword entails.

Fheredin wears no armor and has a light body structure. Blunt weight impacts may only knock him back and do minimal damage, but if an attack lands on him, it does significant damage. He also grows weak and passes out easily from blood-loss.

Bio: Fheredin's family was a family of farmers in a small nation in Glod. His mother died of plague while he was still a toddler, and Fheredin's infant brother died shortly afterwards as well.

His surviving family consisted of Fheredin's father, Drathan, and two sisters. Drathan wanted Fheredin to take over the farm, but Fheredin's skills for fighting were noticed when he was 15 by a knight passing through, who wrote a letter of recommendation for Fheredin and sent him off to Golar's swordsmanship academy, which would train him to fight in exchange for nine years of service to Golar.

Shortly after graduating the academy, he was assigned to a partner, Braes. Braes died in the line of service shortly later, and Fheredin feels responsible for his death. Because of his lack of a partner, Fheredin was often traded around between teams, causing him to feel further alienated from his colleagues. After his nine year commission was up, he retired and became a free-lance mercenary.

Fheredin desperately wants his father's approval, but his father regards him as a failure because he can't use the sword that well...and because Drathan will now have to sell the farm.

Personality:
Best trait: selfless (he has low enough self-esteem that he really doesn't care for himself)
Worst fault: Incurably pessimistic.

Fheredin is usually a teetotaler, but if he is either very happy or very depressed (quite likely because he's a pessimist) he drinks to excess and can drink anything containing alcohol, allowing him to win many drinking competitions.

Being a mercenary usually entails getting large lump-sums of cash as payment. Fheredin does not exceed at self-control so often he spends it all haphazardly, then has to scratch to make ends meet until the next large lump sum.

EDIT: Corrected nationality to a place listed on the map (which I did not see at first and assumed the geography was left to imagination.) Raevinia is not a place listed, Golar is.

Approved, with the proviso that you watch yourself with the dodging and accuracy thing. Don't make it too ridiculous.
