Recently, while I was perusing through the toystore, I saw the latest Nerf guns. I was drawn to one designed like a Magnum revolver and since it was only 8 bucks, I decided to splurge a bit and buy it.

The thing handles pretty damn good actually. A few of my friends and coworkers soon saw the vast improvement in Nerf technology as well and were decking themselves out with guns. Soon enough, we were having full on Nerf battles at Gamecrazy.
After a while, my friends decided to mod their guns a bit. I was looking at what they did (air suppressors removed for longer distance and making the Maverick revolver open completely so you can make it spin, Russian Roulette style) and it did have me interested, but being the lazy fuck that I was, I didn't act on it.

Now, I find myself doing it, and what's more, I've just bought some spray paint and am going to attempt giving mine a custom paintjob to make it look sort've steampunklike.

This is what I want it to look like when I'm done

Posted Image

Has anyone else done something like this? It's actually quite fun

If anybody attempts to rob the store, just level that thing at 'em! (The painted one, of course)

Don't forget to keep the tip neon orange for legality/security.

legality in terms of sale of toy guns. It's only illegal to take the orange tips off of AIRSOFT guns.

Really, what I'm doing is the equivilant to walking around with a toy gun from the 80's. It's not illegal and I'd honestly have to be an idiot to whip it out in front of a cop.

Sweeeeet. I was always more of a super soaker or laser tag girl, but I would have absolutely no objects to total Nerf war.

How do you remove the air suppressors for longer distance?

a screwdriver, to open the gun up, knowledge of where the air suppressors are and removal of them with a box cutter.

This shows you how to do it on a single shot nerf gun.

Sweet. I still say Hasbro should've gone all the way and have Classics Megatron shoot Nerf darts, but eh, the clicking trigger is good enough, I suppose.

yeah, I more than agree with you on that, DJ. BTW, is it just me? For the first time ever, there's a line of transformers that I want absolutely nothing to do with. There's a Transformers cartoon on that I literally have NO interest in.

Weren't they suppose to have a second line of Transformers classic?

You're better off then I am, because I do like the current line. In my defense, come on now.

But yes, the new Universe/Classics line is actually coming out....right now. Off the top of my head, they're making....hell, here.

Already eyeing Galvatron and the non-repaint Autobot cars myself. Dammit.

Some of my college buds were really into Nerf, and I remember one modded his Maverick so we could play Russian Roulette.

Though, there's nothing quite like opening your dorm door and getting owned by a Nerf machine gun.

I thought Nerf was a company that makes foam toys for kids to play with outside.

The Nerf company always revolves around foam toys, yes. Foam footballs (American and European), foam baseballs, foam everything. That's probably what you're thinking of. But they've also expanded their foamy wonderness beyond balls and small toys to territories like toy guns. The guns themselves fire foam "darts" so they're still in the same business.

And as a kid I was deprived. Never owned a nerf gun, and I always envied the kids with nerf guns. You've inspired me to go buy one, however. Next time I'm at Toys 'R' Us or Target I'm totally going to pick one up, making sure it's got maximum firing power. :P

I had a Nerf bow and arrow, actually. That was an odd little weapon. You couldn't have more than three 'arrows' on it at a time. One ready to fire and two hooked onto the bow itself for reserve. You fired by pulling back a big handle. All my foam arrows ended up bent and wouldn't fire straight anymore. :(

Brings back fond memories of playing with the neighborhood boys at the local church.

Suddenly, I'm inspired to do it again with all my college buddies.

The guys in my dorms would always have a nerf gun fight on the weekends, it was hilarious to watch six guys play with their nerf guns (and they modded them too) but walking into that from the elevators, when you didn't know it was coming was always scary as hell.

Pfft... toy guns <_< ...

...

... ... ...

... that does look pretty good though XD . Someone should create a Theme Park centered on Nerf composed battles. Anything at all, just as long as it's related to destruction, hostility or war. From Space Battles, to anything derived from our chaotic history. *foams at mouth*

Nerf Bayonet. Foam poke of death!!! XD

This is an amazing idea. Absolutely brilliant. It could be the nerf equivilent of Lego Land. And think about how much merchandise they'd sell!!! Someone must eMail the Nerf company right now and inform them of this genius.
