I've been trying out several Wii games on my brand new system (yay!) and all but one have worked great. Unfortunately, I can't get Link's Crossbow Training to load. It's a new disk, unscratched and not dirty. Every time I insert it into the Wii, I get a black screen and an error message instructing me to remove the disk and restart the system. Is there some special step I must do before attempting to load this game or do I have a bad disk?

Well, Nintendo are obviously not going to throw in some random requirement just to play LCT, so your disk must be faulty.

Well, I've purchased a second copy of LCT; this time a used but unscratched disk. The first time I tried to load it, the Wii projectile-vomited it across the room! Subsequent attempts to load the disk result in the same error code described in my previous post. I went to Nintendo's customer support site, but that wasn't of any help. Is there something possibly wrong with my system?

Have you gone into the settings to update the Wii? I expect you have, but that's all I can think of.

It's not something silly like a disk from a different region is it? Where did you buy both versions of LCT?

And what was the error code?

That's a good point, you can look up the error codes, and you might be getting import versions by accident. @.@

Someone else suggested this. Unfortunately, I am one of those troglodytes still using a dial-up Internet connection! No broadband, no wireless, no lan adaptor...

I purchased both copies locally, the new one from a department store and the used copy from Gamestop.

And what was the error code?

Error Occured: Press the Eject button and remove the disc. Turn the power off and follow the instructions in the console manual.

I followed the instructions in the manual, looked it up at Nintendo's online support pages. I have yet to call Nintendo because of my recent work hours, but I’ll give ‘em a ring this weekend...

It could be that your Wii has a faulty disk drive. Apparently, several early Wii models are affected by this, and it's most obvious when trying to play Brawl (I have this problem btw, so I can confirm it exists). I think this is most likely the problem, and if it is, Nintendo should offer free repairs (they have done for me).

Did you put the game in the correct way?
