EDIT: At the request of some other members, I've removed the offensive comment from both here and the original post in the Singles Club thread in R&R. Keep in mind, everyone, of the rules - especially Rule #1:

Be nice! This is a friendly forum and we expect you to fit in. Do not directly or indirectly insult other members, this extends to new members as well as old. Respect must be shown for all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and creeds. Likewise, political stereotypes will not be tolerated. This includes the use of any slurs, whether meant as slang or not (i.e. use of the word 'gay' as an insult, any use of the n-word, etc).

Also, any form of threats or harassment towards any member of the forum, be it on or away from the board will result in swift and decisive action.

Similarly, do not bring offline arguments onto the forum.

EDIT: Under further consideration of the admin team, Ribbon is banned indefinitely. The post she made in conjunction with her PM to the admins solidified this decision.

To be fair, Splash was kinda pushing it.

Honestly, when I was reading it I kinda knew that when I read what Splash said to get Ribbon riled up I knew Ribbon would lose it.

But I'll shutup now.

Let this be a lesson to us all to watch what we say. Jokes or no jokes, we have to keep in mind we're all people and sometimes our personal lives and individual personalities might clash with the silliness of this forum.

It's great that you removed the offensive comment, but now I have no idea what happened. Please, if you could explain what happened for those of us that dont regularly visit that part of the forum, it would be greatly appreciated. It's not that I doubt your decision, it's just that I dont want to be out of the loop, is all

She made a highly insulting post in the Single's Club directed toward Splash, and then followed up with a PM to the admins that made things worse.

Splash didn't do anything wrong.. Ribbon pushes it with every post she makes. You should be glad you didn't get to see it.

I have to agree with Rhia...

It was a heartless thing for her to say.

Whether or not Splash was pushing it, Ribbon had no right to say anything of the sort.

May I make a suggestion that in the future ban-worthy posts and pms be preserved, if not in their original threads, in the ban thread, if the member in question is perma-banned? This way it's clear what sort of behavior is ban worthy, and it also should lessen the possible complications arising if another member should think that it the behavior wasn't ban-worthy. The rules are, of course, the chief things that should be used, but it's always helpful to have examples.

If one needed to see this specific example to realise such behaviour was unacceptable, then that person is ban-worthy from birth.

I'm not big on leaving behind posts just so people can be in on the latest gossip. If the post was deleted, it obviously means we didn't want people to read it. It's hard to fathom why 'x member spit out a vulgar post and got banned' isn't explanation enough.

I don't think I ever want to hear the word 'ban' again.

And I agree with the admins for deleting it.

The problem is between them and the one who is...no longer accepted on the forums...

The people who missed out...well, too bad for them.

Our intention isn't to keep people out of the know by 'hiding' what was said, nor is it to cause people to be more likely to get in trouble by not knowing what is unacceptable. Just know that insulting and threatening the life of another forum-goer or really anyone else is not acceptable. And then leaving a PM saying that it was the insulted party's fault doesn't much help.

"The voice of Splash came to me and told me to do it..."

I'm sorry, that's still not an excuse to say what she said...

How about the fact that she's fallen into troubled times? It doesn't excuse what she said to Splash, but I'm not going to sit here and bash her back for it, or look down on her for it when I know that she is going through something bad.

Actually, since the issue has been resolved, I'm just going to close the thread. There's no reason to complain about her behavior at this point. You're not supposed to be doing that here anyway.
