Sometimes our server goes screwy and LA doesn't send out emails. It seems to be periodical and unpredictable. If you've registered and are awaiting an email, your account will be in the Validating usergroup and you'll be able to make a topic in this forum letting us know you are unable to fully register.

Similarly, for other members who need email-related functions like password resets, you can also post in here as a guest to let us know of your problem.

Guests can only post in a topic they themselves create.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if this will be helpful to you or not, but I thought I would point this out, as it may be a security risk.

I registered a couple of days ago, but never received a validation email. As soon as I clicked on the 'register' button, I was logged in and able to post like any other member. I just checked the email account today, still no validation. I don't know terribly much about website operation, but it seems like something you might want to check out if for no other reason than to deter potential spammers.

Either the email was never sent out, or you registered during the window where validation was turned off. Whichever it was, we have precautions set up that limit the ease of spammers to get on the boards. For instance, new members have to post in an existing topic before they're able to start their own.

Yes, i registered, no email. And not validated. Can reply, but not make a new topic. Also, im still unclear, does validation have to be a manual process by the admins? at least for the time being, or what? PM'd steel samurai, said to look in these forums, i see the problems of no emails being sent, and i see admins having to validate manualy. So, even if you validate my account, which i would appreciate, if you can make it a little clearer for new members, thatd be nice. -_-

Can you make threads now? It was set so that you have to reply at least once before you can start a thread.

i tried, now it appears that i can.. so i guess its fine, but still, it was so unclear. Someone add some info for this or something so people dont mass pm the admins or not find stuff, or just speed up the process.

Due to trouble with spambots adding themselves as members and starting new topics with improper content, we made a fail-safe where new members like yourself had to post once somewhere on the forums before being able to start a topic -- only real humans could get through that trial, the theory was. Then they grew smarter and some now post within existing threads, but we can't win every battle.

Sorry for the confusion and I hope you enjoy your time on LA!

The board does not indicate that you are hanging in validation limbo. You should be good to post. Maybe the email was caught by your spam filter or something?

Yeah, still didn't got my e-mail too.
In that case, shouldn't you do a general topic of presentation for all the new members ?
'Cause being said that you have to start a new thread to present yourself when you can't is kinda weird actually... >.>

Anyway, now I should be able to make a new thread, isn't it ? Then see you there.

Only people in the Members usergroup have a restriction on new topics. If you're in the Members usergroup then clearly you've been validated somehow.

Guests and the Validating usergroup are able to make emergency topics in this particular forum for help.

And you don't have to make an intro thread for yourself. I don't think I ever did. That's entirely optional. :P
