Many have played The Legend of Zelda, and I am quite aware that many of its fans have played all othem up to date. But the more intriuging fans seem to want to go deeper within the story picking puzzle peices where ever they go. The word....simple; a time line theory. It's a dreaded, but old form of showing the public what was when and where. But many dont seem to see that timelines dont fit when other games seem to not "fall in". Im talking about the portable versions of the LoZ mixing in with the more graphic versions starting with OoT for the N64, working its way well to TWP for the WII. Where did they fall into place, and how do they all fit together?

What was four swords all about, and how did you get from 1 Link to 3 extra identical ones with diffrent tunics? For a very conservative belive of the beginning of time, I only believe that the legend starts at OoT, a smash to the 1997 game of the year. Then it worked its way in sequels that made "sence".

After loosing your fairy in OoT, your off to look for it in the land of Termina, then your fighting evil to evil on TWP. Finally there is a flood.

But where does this all fall?..... Was Miyamotos storyline meant to be cracked?...was it meant to be in sequel, and does the timeline starting from OoT have any similar diffrences with that of the real world? Our beliefs in religion? .....

Quite mind baffling, but these are some questions I believe all fans should take into account.

Thanks for stating the obvious, Captain Obvious! [/ass]

Let me give you an education:
When Zelda II was released, it was the sequel to the original LoZ.
When ALTTP was released, it was the prequel to the original LoZ.
When LA was released, it was a sequel to ALTTP.
When OoT was released, it was the prequel to ALTTP.
When MM was released, it was a sequel to OoT.
When Oracles was released, it was a spin-off story.
When FS was released, it was another spin-off story.
When TWW was released, it was a sequel to OoT.
When FSA was released, it was the sequel to FS.
When TMC was released, it was the prequel to FS.
When TP was released, it was a sequel to OoT.
When PH was released, it was a sequel to TWW.

Can you make a timeline from that?

I always found it more entertaining to throw out the storylines alltogether and just enjoy the games for what they are. Unless somebody actually releases a de-facto timeline straight from the man himself, there's really no point in arguing (it won't get you anywhere =P)

That said, you seem to be under the impression that Twilight Princess features the same characters as Ocarina of Time. Once you play it it should be clear it does not :)

Here's a graphical representation of the above:

#1Nintendo's fractured timeline

Child Prong

_____/[MM]----[TP]-----(\)
[OoT](---------------------)[ALttP]--[InS]--[LA]--[LoZ]--[AoL]
-------\ --[TWW]--[PH]--(/)

Adult Prong

#2The Light Force Timeline

[TMC]---[FS]---[FSA]

and finally:
#3The Oracle Timeline

[OoS]x[OoA]

Which is why most people's timelines look the same.

Well, while it's fun to theorize about possible continuities, I don't lose sleep over it at night. The Zelda franchise is one of the most ardently debated video games ever produced... everyone has their own opinion; it's enough to give a person a headache.

Besides, once one has devoted so much time to deciphering the *PERFECT* theory (I stress theory), the next game Nintendo releases generally throws the whole timeline for a loop.

Legendary debates: perhaps that is part of what what draws people to Zelda...

By the way, there are six games missing from that list. Of course, not all of them are canon.
