Origin: Naruto Universe
Age 15
Gender Male
Rank Jounin
Appearance:
He is of sleek muscular build, reasonably tall and appropriately heavy. He has the pupil-less eyes of the Hyuuga and long black messy hair that reaches down to his waist. When not on duty, Hikaru usually wears white gauzes that bind his lower body and left arm. Over this he wears a white kimono which he wears loosely around his slim build. His kimono's colour and decorations change depending on the situation, for example on formal occasions Hikaru wears a blood red kimono with floral designs. Otherwise, it is usually a dull white colour. His leaf headgear is rarely worn, but when it is he wears it around his neck.
During missions, Hikaru wears the standard uniform of jounin, the flak jacket and so forth. He wears the headgear of Konoha around his neck. His left arm, unlike his right, is sleeveless, exposing the gauzes binded to it. His right arm has an open sleeve, much like what you'd find with the sleeve of a kimono. Usually, while on duty, Hikaru's long messy hair is sleekly tied back in a pony tail, with fringes at the front of his face.
Personality:
On the outside, Hikaru seems spiteful and arrogant, a narcissist who has no problems with voicing his opinions regardless if it hurts the emotions of others. Egotistical and possessing a superiority complex, he is seen as being very harsh and unforgiving. At first glance, Hikaru appears to be callous and uncaring, indifferent to the troubles of others though cynical and judgmental. Somewhat emotionally unstable and bitter, he has a generally antisocial behavior and tends to lash out needlessly. He has been known to hurl insults at others and call them by degrading names such as "Moron,", "Worm," or "Maggot,". The most common subjects of his disdain are women, and he can often be described as sexist and frigid.
However, all of the behaviors just described are merely a façade Hikaru takes up as a sort of defense mechanism. Particularly his mistreatment of women. Although, instead of serving to protect himself from getting hurt by others, it’s the other way around. He drives others away in order to protect them from getting hurt due to his own selfishness. A terrible thing happened once because he was weak and foolish in the past and Hikaru has not forgiven himself since; he has no right to be forgiven. He has a powerful self-hatred of himself and questions his right to live. Hikaru finds it better to keep others at arms length, going so far as to make them hate him, so that nobody else is killed because they because of him.
At heart, Hikaru is a caring person who is unable to do nothing when another is in danger. Although, he will usually hide the fact he actually worried about them behind a cold exterior. He's usually in awkward situations where he frantically makes up excuses to justify why he risked his life for another's. In fact, Hikaru is actually too kind a person and this has led him to come close to death many a time, though admittedly, deep down in the recesses of his heart, Hikaru almost wishes for death as he was someone who should've never been born in the first place.
Bio:
The prodigal son of Neji and Hinata Hyuuga, Hikaru was born out of an arranged engagement between the two. In retrospect, he was an experiment. The Hyuuga Main family wanted to to take for their own the talent in Neji, lest the power of the Branch family became too great. Thus, Hikaru was born not out of love, but out of obligation to breed a great ninja that would lead the Hyuuga to glory unparalleled Although, he was never informed fully who his father was, Hikaru was able to make an educated guess as he matured.
However, as if fate itself were against him Hikaru was born with a heart condition that normal medical nins could not cure. He found that at unpredictable times he was seized by violent heart attacks in which he could barely breathe and usually lost consciousness. This was likely due to the in-breeding involved with his birth (Neji and Hinata are first cousins). Though this condition hampered his training as a ninja, Hikaru was determined it would not stop him from becoming the strongest and tear down the prejudicial hierarchy of the Hyuuga.
Aside from being a talented genius, as the next Head of Hyuuga, Hikaru was rigorously trained despite his conditions. Because of the combination of both hard work and genius, it was of little surprise that Hikaru’s skills surpassed those of both his parents. He graduated top of the class as a genin at the age of 10. He was well on his way becoming a Chunin at the age of 12. Hikaru had reached the finals of the Chunin exams before he was defeated. It was clear that his opponent had been far weaker then himself, but during the fight his heart acted up out of nowhere and he was defeated easily. He was immediately sent to emergency care. It crushed Hikaru how much of a burden his frail body was.
Bitter at his defeat, Hikaru confined himself to his room and sulked. Later he had found that though he was defeated, he was legible in becoming a Chuunin, however he was too consumed by his self-hatred for his weak body that he declined fiercely, by tossing around furniture and throwing a tantrum.
Hikaru enclosed himself to the world, he became a lifeless doll that only assimilated human functions. Seeing his hardships, the mistress of the Main family, Hinata, felt sympathy for her son, whose difficult birth had left her unable to bear any more children. Hinata did not know how to act with him, she did not love him, nor did she love his father Neji, it was a family decision to strengthen the clan's future by producing a talented ninja. Hikaru was born fate's fool, a child bred into servitude to his clan.
Hinata had felt angry back then, but unfortunately her loyalty was too great and she said her farewells to the one she truly loved, a certain cocky yellow haired ninja. But even through her old hatred, Hinata knew that Hikaru was her son, no matter how much she regretted it. She tried to reach him. Only to be met with his avid disgust and outright rejection. The world seemed bleak to Hikaru, he felt like he had failed his clain; failed the very purpose for his twisted existence. What was left now? Nothing really, except to wait for death to come.
Then he met her. The person who would change his life with her smile. She was a branch family member and her name was Shima Hyuuga. He met her when he had decided to open his windowsil for brief moments of fresh air. It was a rather awkward meeting as when he opened the wooden windows, he found he had knocked her down to her feet. Had she been spying on him? Hikaru's first impressions of her were not very positive.
She was a shy girl, though her words were kind and she seemed to genuinely care about his recent behavior. She worried about how he was feeling and wanted to see for herself if he was alright. Hikaru was touched by her concern but told her to get lost before he banished her from the clan. She left that day, but returned each day, even if it was raining or in the midst of a storm. Each day, she would wait in front of his windowsill, hoping he'd open it again, knock her down and they could talk for a while once more.
One day, he could feel her presence outside his windowsill again and by then, he had felt comforted by it. He felt like though he was alone in his cold, dark room, as long as she was there, it would be alright. Needless to say, he panicked when he heard her body collapse with a thud on the ground. Immediately opening the window and jumping to her, Hikaru found she had fainted from exhaustion. She was suffering from a ridiculous fever and yet she still waited for him.
That was the beginning of their friendship, a brief yet meaningful friendship that taught hard lessons for the prodigal heir to the Hyuuga. They began spending more time together and Hikaru found himself liking her, as well as himself, more. Shima was the first person he geuninely cared for, the first person he fell in love with. She was his support and he could not imagine life without her. He would soon learn he would have to.
There was an assassination attempt on the heir to main family by a jaded branch family Hyuuga. The assassin had not accounted for Hikaru's strength and was overcome by him. As the heir pinned the would-be assassin to the ground and was about to deliver the final blow, the mask fell off and a girl all too familiar to him was revealed.
Flashback...
"…No…I can't…you can't be…" Hikaru stuttered unable to believe his Hyuuga eyes,
"It's nice to see you again too, Hikky," Shima's small face beamed back at him, "Aren't you going to finish me?"
"No, not you…anyone but you…" Hikaru's words had to be forced out of his mouth,
"Silly Hikky, you have to or I'll just keep coming back and trying to kill you,"
"Why?!" Hikaru had raised his voice unintentionally,
"Because. You are the reason the enslavement of the branch families continue," Shima smiled her sweet smile at him and proceeded to part her hair. She wore the symbol of the caged branch family. "Had you not been born, Hinata would have pursued the Hokage and Neji would be the Head,"
"…I'm sorry…" Hikaru could find no other words to say.
"Your very existence is a sin, Hikaru," Shima said placidly, "If only you were never born,"
By this, Hikaru found words no longer held meaning for him and he could not speak in his defense; not that he could.
"If you really love me, Hikky, die for me…" Shima raised a kunai concealed within her clothes; she brought it down on him.
"Get away from my son!" A woman's voice came from the doorway and another kunai embedded itself in Shima's hand, stopping her from killing Hikaru. It was the Head of Hyuuga herself, as well as a man Hikaru had never seen before. Before Shima could facilitate her escape, the man broke her neck with one fell movement. It was a night that carved itself into Hikaru's memory forever. He didn't dream of it every night like some others approached trauma; Hikaru has never been able to dream in his sleep again from that day.
Thinking back now, Hikaru believes that person was most likely his father, who he had only recently discovered to be Neji Hyuuga, the Head of the Branch Family. What he was doing in the main house and at that hour, Hikaru never sought to ask Hinata, the Head of the Main Family, and all Hyuugas.
After that night, Hikaru had confirmed that he was a monster who only brought misfortune to those close to him. He tried to take his life many times, but each time someone or something stopped him. Be it a maid, his mother or his own hesitation. His life held importance for everyone, even the rest of the Branch family. Everyone, that is, except the one person he cared for the most. He visited her grave, a dirty hovel reserved for traitors. He stood before it and had said once, "I could've broken the cycle with you…I could've married you,"
Hikaru finally realized that if he died, the families would be thrown into disarray as Hinata was barren and could not produce another heir. A civil conflict for a successor would undoubtedly arise. Hikaru did not want anyone else to die because of him, for those who brought misfortune for those who got close to him. Particularly for women like Shima and his mother.
Thus, in the end, Hikaru would lead the Hyuuga, a cursed King seated upon a throne of hatred and segregation. Becoming a Jounin at the age of 15, due to in part his own skill as well as his family's influence, Hikaru sought to change the difference between the main and the branch family, which was separated by a suspicion and hate that not even Hinata's blonde ninja could change. Hikaru should never have been born, but since it was too late now, he could at least try to make the most of it.
Strengths:
Despite his illnesses, Hikaru possesses a superior athletic body and above average chakra. Prodigally strong and fast, each movement he makes is a level beyond elegance. Obviously, when it comes to pure physical prowess, Hikaru is among the best. In close combat, particularly hand to hand, Hikaru holds the advantage. Because he is the heir, Hikaru is privy to all the secret techniques of the Hyuuga and even more of his own creation, making him one of the strongest to hold the Hyuuga bloodline. Had it not been for his illness, this Hyuuga boy would be a potential future candidate for Hokage.
His Bloodline limit is dominant in him and is expressed. The Byakugan can be used to see over very large distances, see through solid objects and see chakra/chakra holes; all in a near perfect 360 degree angle.
Unlike most Hyuugas, Hikaru fights with more then just his hands. He uses his feet as well, on the oft occasion, even kunais, exploding tags and wires in combat. In fact, aside from his body, Hikaru's weapon would be wires that he can send chakra down that inflict damage much the same way as a blow from the Junken. Though his chakra isn't monstrously high, he handles it so efficiently and with such precision that it doesn't need to be. This provides for the strong and precise offense of his Hyuuga abilities and their expulsion of chakra.
Another ability that sets him apart from most Hyuugas is his ability to use most Medical jutsus at a highly functional and proficient. Though he is still incomparable to master medical ninjas, like Tsunade, he is still very skilled. Hikaru himself isn't sure why he learnt medical jutsus, was it a part of him who wanted to cling onto life? To somehow, some way, rid himself his heart condition?
In battle, he is able to summon Ari. A beautiful, normal sized nightingale that brings forth illusions with its songs.
Weaknesses:
The Hyuuga do not use elemental jutsu; though this is a double edged sword, as he is not weak to nor strong against another element. Additionally, because of his chronic illness due to the fact he's the product of incest, Hikaru is prone to violent heart attacks in which breathing and moving becomes hard and at times, even keeping consciousness. Thee conditions strike him unpredictably, even in the midst of battle. Which is horribly inconvenient. Advanced Medical jutsus have thus far futilely tried to treat him.
Hikaru is incapable of advanced, offensive ninjutsu or genjutsu, aside from those used by medical ninjas. This tends to leave him at a distinct disadvantage when engaging enemies from long range, though he makes up for it better then most Hyuugas. Still, getting bombarded by the elements tends to get rather frustration to say the least.
Hikaru is a perfectionist. Being raised as a prodigy, he does not accept anything less from himself or those around him but complete excellence. This has led him into putting effort into many things, some trivial, that he needn't had to.
Perhaps his most critical flaw is that he tries to shoulder everything himself, hiding the fact he does so to protect others by saying things like "You're simply not up to the job, stay the hell out of my way,". This has often led him to outright refusing the help of others, even when he's in dire straits due to his chronic illness.
His most comedic weakness would be that he is unable to swim. At all. Despite being a genius, Hikaru has never been able to swim and when submerged in water, has a tendency to flail around violently and start cursing. Fortunately for him, he is able to walk on water with his chakra. Even so, he'd be the last person you'd find anywhere near large amounts of water in his spare time.
