A couple of days ago a topic was made in Life and Romance about drug use. It was quickly removed as I felt it was highly inappropriate both in it's subject matter and the way it was written. After discussions in the mod forum the rules have been amended slightly to take into account the topic of drugs and how posts about them should be presented.

Educated coversations about the pros and cons of drug use: yes.
Threads about drug trips and how great/awful they are: no.

Do not discuss where to find illegal downloads such as music, movies, and video game ROMs. They may be discussed academically (as in whether or not it is 'ethical' to download such things) but nothing else. Linking to torrents, ed2k links, ROMs, or distribution sites will result in banning. However, if you are positive that the media is being legally distributed online by the licenseholders themselves, we will allow the material to be posted - although, we reserve the right to delete the post if the material is still suspected of being unsuitable or illegally obtained. This also applies to CD keys and other information only received when legally purchasing an item.

Do not discuss hacking/cracking/phreaking or other forms of internet-based vandalism.

Religious and political topics may only be discussed in the designated Controversial forum. Any such conversation outside of this forum shall be considered spam or offensive and will be punished as such.

Drugs and your experiences with them may only be discussed in a manner befitting Rule 2 and never portrayed in a positive light nor in an encouraging manner. Such topics should also be limited to the Life&Romance and Controversial forums.

This is a good rule but what would qualify as "drugs?" That might sound like a dumb question but does this cover all drugs outside of medical use or just the illegal sort? I ask because of discussions about drugs in Life, at least the ones I've participated in, are more about cigarettes and other tobacco products like hookahs as well as drinking. The latter can sometimes turn into personal stories a whole of a lot worse sounding than drug trips of the illegal sort. I just wanted to make sure if it was still appropriate to talk about alcohol and tobacco or would it be restricted to only talking abut in a negative, nonencouraging light? I ask on behalf of people who do drink and smoke legally.

Please don't interpret this as being contrary, but it's worth pointing out which country's laws you're using as a basis.

I thought this might come up. We're not going to sit down and write a constitution for these forums based on what we admins and mods deem the best and worst laws of our respective countries. It's open to interpretation from whomever deals with any given situation. If we had a dutch admin for example they would possibly be more lenient in such a matter, as it is we don't, so luck's out for the dutch.
