So, here we go:
GAME 1: Four SwordsSo once there was a dude named Vaati. He wasn't Minish or anything. He was merely the incarnation of evil. He was bad. And he wanted to show off how bad he was by showing off his hot-rod Lamborghini and his stereo system that was so loud it could blow women's clothes off. The problem was that he was the incantation of evil; he was just this floaty eye thingy... and chicks didn't dig him. So that's when the TRUE beginning of the series happened. He began kidnapping chicks left and right to form this little harem... or brothel, except that he was the only customer. And then he saw her... Zelda. Of course, Zelda was tight with Link and stuff, so she wouldn't dig Vaati, and that angered him. So one day whilst they were together, he kidnaps the babe and dares Link to come after him. The beatdown on the mountain came soon enough, and Vaati was sealed... but not before coming up with a contingency plan. Y'see, he was envious of Link, for whom Zelda had the hots, and so he created Dark Link purposely to destroy him should things go south. And so when Vaati died, Dark Link came into the picture, and DL made it his sole mission to kill Link.
GAME 2: Four Swords AdventuresBut first he needed to free his master who was trapped in the Fo' Sword. So he waited until Link and Zelda came to check on his master, and whammo! He takes the princess and her six closest shopping buddies, and Link is forced to pursue him to get back his babe... completely forgetting he would release the incantation of evil to do so. (The Master Sword hadn't been created yet, y'see.) And so he chases Dark Link all over the place, trying to get his chick back, but he starts hearing the name "Ganon" and "Ganondorf" tossed around, and he was confused! Y'see, Vaati had since learned that his name had become the laughingstock after he got beat down the first time, and he didn't like that, so he changed his name and... using a nifty spell, changed forms into this huge pig demon... which terrified people with his meanness! But it was only a temporary thing, and eventually the spell wore off, so he had to make his retreat high up in a tower so that people wouldn't see his true form. But Link comes to save the day and pwns Vaati and saves Zelda and her shopping gals... but Vaati then decides to transform into his alterego to put the smackdown on Link... but Link seals him in the Four Sword AGAIN, but the incantation of evil doesn't go down that easily... oh no...
GAME 3: Oracle of SeasonsSide note: The Master Sword is made around this time. They don't want to keep pulling out monsters when stuff goes wrong.
Now at this time, the Triforce was sitting nice and pretty in the Sacred Realm, and everyone could go and stare at its beauty. And so Link one day went to it to ask it some questions and so forth, and it, sensing some crazy stuff going down in Holodrumtown, sent him yonder so that he could go investigate. Y'see,
Vaati's Ganondorf's surrogate mothers were looking after him... and they knew he wasn't dead yet, so they hatched a plan... an evil plan... to create a mirror copy of him. However, they were going to call this a resurrection instead of a creation, y'see, since everyone thought that Ganondorf was dead. And so they start making all sorts of nasty stuff go down in Holo'town, and Link goes and saves the day, but not before they're able to light one of the candles of evil for their doomsday device! But Link thinks things are going well here... and so he heads back to Hyrule. However, in the trip back, his ship goes through a massive storm... and Link falls unconscious...
GAME 4: Link's AwakeningAnd so from all of his adventures, Link goes off on some elaborate quest on some island that he dreamed about when he was a boy to destroy the incarnation of evil, except in the dream world, his imagination kicks in and puts some evil uber-form on him, which includes (oddly enough) an eye-shaped figure who is even more uber than Ganondorf. (Funny how those dreams can be somehow spot on!) Anyways, Marin is his imagined Zelda, but for some reason she goes by a different name, but he's still hot for her just as she is for him. But he goes to wake the Wind Fish and just as he does so, he wakes up looking at this little babe that looks just like he did so many years ago; in fact, Link recognises that it
was himself as a kid! Koume and Kotake had known there was a storm that was coming, and so in a desperate plan for revenge to kill Link, they went back in time and stole the baby out of his parents' arms; however, they didn't know the laws of causality, and they actually stole him from an alternate dimension (since the past truly cannot be changed, but they didn't know that of course), and so it really was a different Link altogether. But no matter, because the baby was alive as well, which was not according to plan. So when Link got back to the mainland, he had to do something with the kid before anyone realised it was him, so he dumped it off with the Kokiri and then ran away... and then laid low for a while, for many years... while the other boy grew up... other plans were put into motion...
GAME 5, PART 1: Ocarina of TimeMeanwhile, the original Ganondorf had been amassing strength within the Four Sword, and then finally, once Dark Link had come to lift the Master Sword to free him, he emerged from the sword, throwing dazzling fireworks all over the place to celebrate his re-emergence as only an incarnation of evil can. However, now he was in the form of a man (as he had been trying very hard to reverse the near-permanent form of a pig that he had been in when he was sealed), and one of the Gerudo emissaries saw him and fell for him on the spot. So she took him back to the Gerudo village, relating how he was capable of such strong magic, and so they revered him as a great warrior. Furthermore, since the boy that was supposed to be born to them once every 100 years was stillborn, they adopted him as their rightful king... for somehow the strength he had amassed caused him to change form again, now as a handsome man, teeming with power and radiance! And so he goes after the Triforce, but the young babe had grown up by now as well, and he and the original Zelda's daughter, Zelda (the original Zelda had been cursed to a deep slumber after giving birth to her daughter and taken to North Castle) hooked up to save the kingdom. Link got the Spiritual Stones and went in for the Triforce... but Ganondorf snatched it as Link was caught in a timeless sleep. Ganondorf used this power to create many monsters, including a clone of himself--Phantom Ganons he called it. He had not heard from his surrogate parents in a while, and now with this power, he figured he'd do the job himself...
GAME 6: Adventure of LinkMeanwhile, during the new Link's slumber, the original Link was hiding out, quite creeped out by the fact that he had met himself... afraid of going anywhere for fear that he would ruin his own past (since he too did not know that it was a Link from another dimension). So he went to the north part of Hyrule where he found a different part of Hyrule... upon which he found the sleeping Zelda, which was the original Zelda, which he recognised. From an old woman named Impa (no relation to the Impa from Hyrule Castle, whom Link had met during
Oracle of Seasons), he went to stop Dark Link, who had put Zelda to sleep in order to lure out the original Link (since Dark Link could still feel the original Link's blood flowing somewhere). So Link went after Dark Link and won... but not before Dark Link sliced Link with his blade, cursing him as well as Zelda. Link went to Zelda and saw that she was awake, but that she had the same cut as he... and little did they know that this curse would make them gradually younger until they became babies... all so Dark Link could crush them much more easily! (He was not happy after getting defeated the first time.) He also finds at the very end the Triforce of Courage... or at least it's some cheap knockoff imitation of the Triforce of Courage, the likes of which are sold at any souvenir shop at Hyrule. He also finds one of the Triforce of Wisdom... and gives it to Zelda, but she hates the gift, so she shatters it and sends it all over Hyrule.
GAME 7: Legend of ZeldaBy this time, Ganondorf has the Triforce, and Dark Link came back to him, reporting what he had done. Thinking everything according to plan, he sent Dark Link to the Water Temple, now with new orders, to destroy the other Link. He then sent his clones, Phantom Ganon, to deal with the first; after all, he should be a piece of cake now...
Meanwhile, Link and Zelda journeyed south, but in transit they got lost and ended up east of Hyrule, uninhabited lands of Hyrule, where people still lived in caves. Impa from the northern lands followed them, and one day while they were foraging for food separately, the Phantom Ganon (who happens to have an imitation Triforce of Power, which is the badge that the real Ganondorf gave to all of his top officers as a police badge of sorts) kidnaps Zelda. Impa comes and finds Link and begs him to rescue her. So he goes and does soes that, kills a Phantom Ganon... and recovers his cheap Triforce knockoff, which he is so thrilled about.
GAME 5, PART 2: Ocarina of TimeYoung Link wakes up in the Temple of Time. He's just been sent back through time by Zelda, which causing a time paradox fragmented the future off into its own timeline. And so he goes back to see Zelda, skipping merrily. Dark Link waits forever for Link to show up at the Water Temple; he never does.
GAME 8: Majora's MaskStandard drill, as per Aonuma. Young Link comes back, and Termina is saved.
GAME 9: Oracle of AgesKoume and Kotake, in the meanwhile, had come back to Hyrule once Ganondorf had re-emerged from the sword, but now that he had the Triforce of Power, there weren't any real pressing concerns. So they went over to Labrynna to rekindle their plans to create their clone of Ganondorf... because they were bored and frankly they wanted to cause mischief of their own. You know the drill, Link kills em... Zelda comes to warn Link, gets kidnapped... a Ganon clone is made but mindless, and it's killed quickly. Yay. Link and Zelda now get cured by Nayru and continue to age normally, but they are advised to not go back to Hyrule because of the circumstances of an existing Link and Zelda (Nayru was fooled too!), and so they live in Labrynna forever.
GAME 10, PART 1: Twilight PrincessGanondorf in the meanwhile obtained the Triforce and gets sentenced to death by the
Twilight sages, and he gets banished to the Twilight Realm. However, some small speck of him--the Vaati part of him that all but disappeared the moment he (as Ganondorf) got imprisoned in the Four Sword--remained behind, but by now it was so small that it was barely there, thus causing him to become a Minish.
GAME 11: Minish CapVaati steals the Mage Cap, gains back his power, but in a case of mistaken identity attacks the new Link and Zelda. Link gets the old Picori Sword--since the original Four Sword shattered when Ganon came out of it--and Vaati breaks that too. And he teleports the Temple of Time to the Lost Woods, causing it to crash and fall apart there... and the Master Sword is lost for a time. So Link has to go make the new Four Sword to go after Vaati. And so he does, and kills Vaati for reals this time. They live on in happiness.
GAME 10, PART 2: Twilight PrincessYears later,
Twilight. Need I say more?
~~~ ALTERNATE TIMELINE ~~~
GAME 1, PART 1: Ocarina of TimeNew Link goes through OoT, yay. While he's sleeping...
GAME 2: Link to the PastThis is all a dream since it has so many similarities to OoT. Another bastardised dream as LA was.
GAME 1, PART 2: Ocarina of TimeLink beats Ganondorf, goes back in time. Oh yeah, because Link is a major threat here, Koume and Kotake are here instead of Labrynna as backup.
GAME 3: Wind WakerYears later. As per Aonuma.
