Well, it's finally here. First things first, if you already hadn't noticed from the artwork shown earlier in that flash movie, the Hylian script used in WW is still in effect in Minish Cap. (The loading screen for the Flash object on the main page.)

The two buttons in the Flash object are first just the specs for the game (how much it is, when the game comes out etc.) The second Link is to a movie. The only really interesting info from that are fur item names. In order of appearance they are Magic Pot, Mole Glove, The Cane of Patch, and White Sword.
Another thing you can notice from the gameplay of the game from the movies is that the R button seems to be the variable action button. You use it to talk and stuff to people. I don't know if that was the case in other GBA games. And you can roll it would seem.

The next Link is the only other one available, titled "Adventure." There you will see "The adventure that unfolds on the stage of Hyrule, that is 'The Legend of Zelda.' The serious, and at the same time, comical developments will never cease to fascinate players. Now, what kind of story awaits the players in this Zelda?"

Under that you get three links "The Story and Characters," "The Small World," and "The Mysterious Hat."

The Story and Characters has:
"Far, far in the past, a beast appeared in the country of Hyrule. When the world was on the brink of being swallowed in darkness, the small Pikkoru appeared from the heavens. To a human hero they gave the Golden Light and one sword. The hero, with Wisdom and Courage, Light and Sword, fought the beats, and returned peace to the world.
In thanks to the Pikkoru, the "Pikkoru Festival" was made to be held once a year. Since then, a long time has passed, and even the Pikkoru became a legend....
The Princess of Hyrule, Zelda, has come to invite Link, her childhood friend, so they can go to the festival together. In the Country of Hyrule there is a Legend. It says 'Once every hundren years, a secret doorway is opened, and the Pikkoru will come.'
This year is that hundredth year, and there is an exceptionally grand festival.
To share in the Hero's good fortune, a "Martial Arts Tournament" is held at the Castle during the festival. This year's winner was Gufuu (Vaati,) a man wielding suspicious [magics.] The other contestants weren't even able to get close to him, and Gufuu easily won. However, there was not a single person who knew who this black-clad man was.

Who exactly is "Gufuu" What are his real plans?"

Then we get individual profiles.
"Princess Zelda:
The Princess of the Kingdom of Hyrule. She is Link's childhood friend. To see the Pikkoru Festival held once a year with him, Zelda comes to visit Link's house."

"Link:
The main character of this story. While going to the Pikkori Festival held once a year (would they stop saying that ~_~) with Zelda, he is asked by his grandfather to deliver the Sword awarded to the winnder of the Martial Arts Contest."

"Gufuu:
Winner of the Martial Arts Contest held at the castle. He appeared out of nowhere, and was victorious very easily. No one in town is able to identify him. What are his plans...?"

I'll call that a night. I have a midterm tomorrow. Er, later today now....

So, this is really FS's backstory?

... Interesting... But it also means that we won't see HA's ending fixed...

So that settles it. Since this is Vaati's first appearance, and the Four Sword is found along the way of Link's adventures, this game MUST be the FS backstory.

What really strikes me odd is that, since this can't possibly be the same Link from FS/FSA, that this Link is also Zelda's childhood friend. Remember, FS/FSA Link and Zelda were childhood friends. Hmm...

Sounds very interesting...I like the way they use Vaati in this game so far, I didn't really like him as that overweight bat with one eye. What amazes me is how Nintendo actually figures out where to put all these new games on the Zelda timeline. Since I can't read japanese for my life, is there any info on the minish cap? (the item) I am guessing it is some sort of hat that causes you to shrink (diMINISH), and than return back to normal size. Am I correct?

Yeah you got it.

I think it's just a weak story telling element...just to set up the plot...it's pretty redundant.

Well, there's going to be a FS game for the DS, so it could possibly fill the gap between HA and OoT.

Call me old fashioned but I don't like the idea of anything coming before OoT. Especially not something like TMC which looks too much like something off TWW which comes after OoT. Maybe LoZ or even LttP. But having TMC replace OoT as the prologue to all the games... nah. Just doesn't fit right. It'd have to be REALLY ground-breaking to be able to do that.

I do believe that it's blantantly obvious that it is the prequel to the FS series. Also, King Daphnes looks like he's in it too. Which debunks the whole TMC=TWW2 theory but it might be a prequel to TWW too. Who knows.

I think there is a major possibility of having a prolougue to OoT. OoT's Hyrule has obviously been around a looooong time already..... SO why not describe its history?

If they were to do that then I'd rather they do it with a full fledge 3D game with an art style that hasn't been used in any previous Zelda game. I dunno why. Maybe I'm just being a stubborn ass but that's just how I feel.

I see what you're saying. I just would love to see more realistic 3d Zelda games (yes I'm aware of the new one--but will that be a consistent trend?)...the ones with the 2d format (although nostalgic) are easy to make, and calls for a quick buck (at least in this day and age of 3d gaming)...back in the day...these Zelda games would've been the hottest things around. It gets pretty redundant when games that could've been made on the SNES are in greater numbers than those that could be made for the game cube.

I know what you're saying, Mario Jr. I prefer OoT to be first, but I'd prefer it even more if OoT's prequel was a 3D game. No offense to TMC, which looks great, it just doesn't look like it should predate all other games. Which is also why I won't place the FS games before OoT.

How do you know, do you have a date?

TSA's "in" with the NOAs, so I'm sure that info was being thrown around in the NOA staff forum.

Eh, if there's one thing I noticed, is that NOA rarely puts their official sites up before the game is released... which sucks.

I wonder TSA, if any of your 'contacts' could get hold of any of the High Rez art from the older Zelda Games. ALttP, Link's Awakening, ALttP Remake etc. Manual scans are nice an all, but not as good as your high rez art...

Personally when it comes to games predating OoT storyline wise. I dont much mind, since to me I never truley felt that OoT would be a strong footed start. As for the FS games, Im enjoying every one that has come out, but this to me makes sense for them to come first. Other than that, I dont see how they could make them fit into the whole lot of the other Zelda games.

Anything released pre Oracles there isn't any official Nintendo High Rez artwork.

Nintendo makes high resolution artwork available to media sites like IGN, EGM, etc. There is the official Nintendo Media Site, and then there is a Journalistic Service.

I have connections in both that allow me to obtain these at the appropriate times. I once distributed an image too early - The Legend of Zelda at E3 2004 with Link riding Epona pic - and got in a bunch of trouble. So I have to be more careful.

All the high rez art I have is all that is available via official scans. Of course, you can scan something yourself...Melora had a ton of high rez stuff...but she's busy with life now, so it's really up to Nintendo's discretion.

I have a scanner - but it is a paper feed version. I will not cut up my magazines and guides...so if I ever secure doubles or people want to donate - I'll happily scan.

I scanned that Zelda II issue because it already was falling apart...

I actaully am about to move against the distribution of artwork - I am going to start making images smaller or altered (if you haven't noticed, I now add a sligh inner glow to every image) so that you have to have some skill in photo editing to reuse them.

This is because Nintendo is getting uptight about image distribution, and I was told that my "high rez art" section was getting too big. So I may have to start taking offline some stuff...

I am finding that basic "tell the facts of the games" sites are getting boring. I want to do something more like a Zine - a Zelda Zine. Focuses on issues in the Zelda Community and news with the Zelda world.

Forums are just a good as a place nowadays to learn info. I feel it is becoming a waste of time to have a huge archive of just everything possible on a site. I'll make a .zip file of everything Zelda and let people have fun with it. I'm starting to become more interested in the interpretation of Zelda, not the content analysis side.

We'll see...I also don't have much time...so for now I will keep ZHQ as it is.

Out of curiousity, why doesn't Nintendo like image distribution?

Okay, here's the rest.

"A Small World."

This adventure's theme is saving Hyrule while going between the real world and a fairy-tale world. You move forward by changing the size of Link after crossing through the entrance to the Pikkoru world. An ordinary drop of water can become a bottomless swamp. By changing your point of view the world opens up to be a much bigger place."

Going clockwise:
"In normal size, an enemy ordinary enemy like a Chuchu...
becomes "Boss Chuchu" in the small world."

"A hole that catches your interest...
You might be able to go through it like this."

"Where could they be in this show store?
They were on top of the desk."

"Even in this terrible rain you wont flinch.
When you're small a drop of water could take your life."

Now for the "Mysterious Hat" section.

"A mysterious life form (?) that you will meet during your aadventure. [He] will be your important partner this adventure."

The Flash thing is entitled: "Illustrations of Ezro's Sayings."
The first one says "Stop dozing off, kid!" The second one says "Look over there!" The third one says "I'm going this way!" On the last one it's just him screaming, but then his sprite will appear, and he says "Hold on a minute!" When you click there he says "All of those just make me look bad. Here's how invaluable I really am during the adventure."

Then on his pictures he says (Going left to right, top to bottom) it's "Phew, I that was a close one. Well, I would have done something one my own...." subtitled, "A complete inconvenience."

"Well, I guess I will tag along with you. My name is Ezro, pleased to meet you." subtitled "Link has really got a reassuring partner this time."

"! So it's a guardian protecting the treasure. Be careful when fighting it." subtitled "I give precise advice that you can depend on."

Subtitled "My galant image as I chant a spell."

"Ah, how peaceful. There are so many cows, they look tasty...." subtitled "Sometimes you need some rest, too.

"It's not that the barrel is big, it's that we are small." subtitled "When you have a problem, press SELECT to call me."
