I'm thinking the ultimate weapon would have to be the positron cannon. The only defense would be a strongly-positively-charged insulating shield. This cannon's beams could rip through any ordinary material and would cause its victim's atoms to react in an extremely nuclear way.

Of course, the ultimate weapon might be something as simple (read: not flashy) as an intelligent computer virus.

What do you think?

I think the ultimate weapon would be a satellite cannon, firing a powerful beam which can alter the face of the Earth (where it touches, at least) and wipe out wherever it hits for a mile-round radius.

Although that could be the positron cannon LT mentioned, I don't know.

It very well could be the same device, with descriptions that are both fairly layman, only with one exceedingly so.

I'm pretty sure the Ancient weapon at Dakara (sp?) from Stargate SG-1 is the most devestating weapon in sci-fi. My reason for believing this is simply thus: it was a device used to seed all life in the universe, but it can also destroy all organic matter. Coupled with the multiple dialing program created by Baal (that dials every gate in a network), the weapon can be activated and used to destroy all living matter in reach of a Stargate (nearly every living thing in the universe).

The only reason it cannot be used as such is because the Ori destroyed it in Season 9.

The problem with a positron canon is that it would take way too much energy to artificially produce the positrons. And if you already possess such power-generating capabilities, then you can probably construct a much simpler and equally powerful weapon.

Also, positrons can be deflected by a magnetic field. Still an interesting idea, though.

I don't know a better name for them. But if you could harness them without spending too much energy, they might be good for countering any positive fields used against the positron beam.

Anyway, I guess I'll have to fall back on the intelligent virus again. Anti-matter weapons are so inefficient.

Unfortunately there aren't any natural sources of positrons, at least not on earth. There are scientists who create and collect anti-matter, but thus far they've collected very little. If, however, one could access some natural anti-matter source, then this would largely alleviate the energy requirement problem.

Yes, this would be a far more practical weapon. And it could easily be developed within our lifetimes (probably already has been).

While Primus himself doesn't count since he's a god and not a weapon, easily his crotch of doom - I'm sorry, the "Legendary Spaceship, Ark" (Noah if you watch the Japanese version). He used it to make the Laws of Physics his bitch by destroying and wiping a black hole out of existance, after all.

Metroid Prime has a massive flaw, it cannot resist the power of it's own attacks, namely Phazon. Also, it requires Phazon to continue activity. The Power Suit, with Samus at the helm, repeatedly defeated Metroid Prime. And the Power Suit isn't magic. o.o Well... There's hints that the Chozo have abilities akin to 'magic', but it's always just defined as crazy-high technology and psychic powers.

I reckon the Krenim superweapon from the Voyager episode "Year of Hell" is pretty devastating... To be able to wipe your enemies from history. And of course, not knowing the full consequences of how the Universe would turn out without that race (as Anorax discovered)... Pretty scary stuff!

Don't you freakin' dare start that now. Last time we did this, everyone went home with broken bones and with their opinions totally unchanged - they just started to think the other parties involved were dumber then before since clearly their choice was far and away the obvious victor.













...and Unicron is the dark god and the chaos bringer, not a weapon, so unless you happen to have the Matrix of Leadership handy, he ain't goin' away. Even then, all he'll do is transfer his counciousness to another dimension (ex. from G1 to Armada) and do stuff there while his destroyed body regenerates. And Primus can make Unicron his bitch, so that's another issue entirely.
