Is there a trick to landing a fish in TP? I can reel them in real close but I've only ever been prompted to actually land a fish once.

Once it gets close enough it will prompt... Reel faster. And tilt the rod up. Sometimes the prompt only pops up for a very short time.

But aren't you always supposed to keep the rod up (unless the fish jumps) and reel as fast as you can?

Yes. I don't know why it wouldn't prompt if it's close enough...

For some reason I was keeping my thumb on the A button whilst holding the rod upright and it was interfering with the land prompt. Now I'm stuck on level 1-7 in Rollgoal. Stupid slanty red things!

I really hate the red ones. I can do the vertical ones okay now, but the horizontal red ones are AAAGGHH!
I keep wasting all my rupees on it. She must make way more from Rollgoal games than from actual fishing.

Agreed. And if you get the ball stuck in the middle you might as well start over.

I just spent most of the day trying to fish. No matter what I do I just can't catch one. I followed the instructions in the manual but it doesn't help.

What type of fishing, Chuk? Lure or bobber?

When you first go lure fishing Ilia shold be on hand to help. If it's bobber fishing, set the rod to B. Press B to get it out, then press B again near water and tilt the control stick down so the bobber flops into the water. Then yank it out when the bobber dips underwater.

The first kind.

It doesn't matter now, I just ignored what it said in the manual and let the float sink, and I caught one.

Knowing when to reel in bobber fishing is hard. 2 times out of 3 even though it's sunk all the way under... it still just comes right back out when i reel. Oh well. ^^
Rollgoal is indeed kicking my rump. There are apparently 2 of the really hard spots in level 1-8, with a red thing followed by an immediate curve.. and I had enough trouble on the one in 1-7. It's ok though.. cuz the sinking lure caught me a loach on my first try ^_^ he ignored it for the most part, so by the time he bit he was right next to my boat! It was creepy too, I almost ignored him cuz he looked like a bass.. but he had this frog-eating look on his face.. XD
Oh, and her name's not Ilia. :P but they're both cute!

Speaking of fishing, every now and then I'll spot the Hylian Loach, but it'll leave because it'll take too long to get interested, or another fish near it will bite before the Loach... Any tips because, frankly, it's making me mad. I spent over an hour and still can't catch it. Hell, is there even a reward

You are using either the sinking or frog lure, right?
