Im not much of a storyliner, so bear with me.

I have two theories about Termina.

1. The "New Hyrule" Theory

Only thought of this the other day. What if Termina was the New Hyrule that Link set off to find at the end of TWW. That way the portal would be a time portal.

This is supported by them celebrating the Carnival of Time, which could well be a developed celebration of the Hero of Time of ancient legend. Technologically, nothing had changed between OOT and TWW, so theres no problem there.

Of course, the fact that the Zoras are around and the Rito arent puts a fairly large hole in my theory, so on to my favourite one...

2. The Neighbouring Country

Termina is a neighbouring country to OOT Hyrule, linked by the mountains. Originally when Zelda came out, it was announced that there would be hooks to the 64DD version, and speculation was aroused about the mountains behind the shadow temple.

It is my belief that this could well be the land-based, non-portal-dependant route to Termina. I just like the idea of the OOT era games being linked together, so Holodrum and Labrynna would also be neighbouring countries. There must be a world outside hyrule...

You may begin insulting me....now!

so far, no one has...

Here's the problem... Ganon was not a threat at all to Termina. If he had escape, like the backstory to WW, there certainly would have been major problems in Termina from that.

No one recognizes Hyrule's Hero. There may be other reasons for this, but again, wouldn't someone that famous at least have rumors in a bordering country?

The moon in Hyrule doesn't have a face. Wouldn't have to? I mean a bordering country wouldn't have it's own moon.

The placement of the games. Hyrule is a large place. OoT shows only part of it. Other game maps outline areas beyond OoT. AoL is one of these. It is Northern Hyrule, the land beyond death mountain.

Lack of the Giant guardians and legends in other games. Certainly, by now, more refernce would have been made to this.

No need to insult you, just simply correct you.

Yea, plus the fact that we KNOW that Termina is a whole new dimension. The second theory is just dumb, no offense, and Chronicle pretty much said what I was going to say about the first theory.

Ah, but there's the thing. We don't KNOW that Termina is another dimension. As far as I recall, neither the word "dimension" nor the word "alternate" appeared in the manual. The original premise of the game was that Termina was going to be an alternate hyrule, but this was during the game's development, where areas such as the Southern Swamp were wrongly dubbed 'Kokiri Forest;.

Alternate and dimension aren't, but the words "parallel" and "world" are...

If you insist on such a neighboring kingdom existing, Termina wouldn't be that. We know Termina is a reflection of Hyrule, but Ikana could be the reflection of the neighboring kingdom.

i just want to mention that i am happy i am not the only one who thinks that about Northern Hyrule!
also Termina came off as being a seperate dimension of sorts...a strange place entered through the very borders of the Lost Woods...

I always throught that Termina somewhat alluded to the old childhood saying that if you dig deep enough you'll end up in China. And Termina does seem somewhat Asianic... In either case, I can't even begin to recall how strongly Termina was referred as a "parrallel world." In fact, I believe Nintendo still holds by that stance till this day. Now I'll admit I had some crazy neighboring country theories myself in the past... But no. It's pretty obvious Termina is whole different world.

I would agree if you said Holodrum and Labrynna were neighbouring countries, but the Moon with a face thing kinda blows up the Termina being another country idea...

Unless of course, that wasn't the real moon.

Um...for your fanfics, wouldn't it make more sense to atleast stick to Manual information? not many people are gonna like fanfictions where Termina is a country

I too always found Termania to be a parrallel world. Due to the lost woods and the whole chasing the skull kid part to be very bizzare. It makes sense for me, seeing as of the same people from OoT make a re-apperance but live very different lives.

Someone said Termina and Hyrule are connected by the mountains. And since the MM Instruction Booklet said Termina is kind of parrallel to Hyrule. And, they could be connected by the Mountains. By only by the northeast side of the Goron Shrine. Check the Map in the MM Booklet to see what I mean.

And Zangus, the reason for the same people is MAYBE because due to the engine re-usage. And maybe they didnt bother changing the characters.

I dont think this is really up for debate. I can't really see anything legit about the two worlds.

Actually..the character re-usage maybe because the people from Hyrule traveled to Termina, since they are parralel, and they're has to be some point they can travel to Termina to Hyrule and back. Or Maybe through that portal?

Yet Again..something that really can't be explained.

Um...no. The parrellels are WAY to different to be the same people, it's like havng a good twin and an evil twin. Also, Termina and Hyrule are not connected Geographically, as the two worlds are completely unaware of each other! and the words PARELLEL WORLD is hard to debate againest.
