[SOAP]

Change the title of this forum Zelda General to something else. I've seen spambots attack other boards and always they attack forums with Main, General, ect in their names but usually leave other forums alone.

There's probably some truth in that because I remember there was a decline in spambots when Gangsta names were being used.

How bout Zelda blog? Grrr this is difficult, maybe we should try 'Thing Without An Interesting Name'.

It is true that the bots seem to attack this section of the forum moreso than anywhere else.

Gaming I think is the other one.

Or maybe make it all one unrecognizable word - ZeldaGen or something. It probably picks up on broad targets.

Actually, we're discussing this in the Tower right now, thanks to a suggestion to l-o-s that might solve the problem forum-wide. By making it so members can only start new threads AFTER they make one post. Since most spambots only post once and leave. New members would get fair warning to the change, however.

Although I don't see why new members wouldn't be smart enough to make a post then a welcome topic right after if they are warned about it, Avenger.

I've only ever seen them post a thread for their first post (sometimes they do it in multiple forums) and the vanish. Can't remember seeing on in existing topics.

Huh. I guess my old forum just has no protection, then. Seriously, the place is overrun with bots now. I will not say which forum it is, since you will all laugh at the tragedy and the members of the forum will have my head for letting the information out.

I'm all for the idea of changing it to Zelda Commons. The newbie idea's a good one, too.

Yeah...in fact, you should rename all of the Zelda Forums...something new...something...fresh, but not as random as to confuse people as to where to post what.
