I first thought of it at least three or four years ago. Hopefully, my series of fanfics, The Dimensional Trilogy, may be the prototype for it.

Here's how it goes...

We have these elemental warriors who fight for justice in the Nintendo World, a place where video game characters are REAL from Mr. Game and Watch to the Prince of Persia.

This is the order.

You have warriors of Fire, Thunder, Metal, Wind, Wood, Magic, Energy, Ice, Light, and Darkness. You've a got a mentor to teach them and two warriors to lead them all. However, there are the bad guys with elemental powers of Earth, Water, Life, and Space.

Here are the characters I've figured out so far...

Leader 1: Fox McCloud
Leader 2: Link
Mentor: Open to suggestions...
Fire: Mario
Thunder: Pichu
Metal: Samus Aran
Wind: Kirby
Wood: Open to suggestions...
Magic: Zelda
Energy: Sonic the hedgehog
Ice: Krystal
Light: Open to suggestions
Darkness: Mewtwo (Used to be Dark Link, but...you'll find out later.)

Bad boys
Earth: General Scales
Water: King K. Rool
Life: Skull Kid
Space: Metroid

For every one of these elemental warriors, they have a guardian form. Something like a second form with greater power.

Leader 1: Drakor
Leader 2: Ganondorf
Mentor: None, he teaches them.
Fire: Bowser
Thunder: Pikachu
Metal: Ridley
Wind: Metaknight
Wood: Open to suggestions
Magic: Impa
Energy: Shadow the hedgehog
Ice: Open to suggestions
Light: Open to suggestions
Darkness: Lugia

Earth: Galdon
Water: Sea Spike (Remember that pufferfish on DK64? Him.)
Life: Odalwa
Space: Kraid

If you have a suggestion for any of these, talk here.

Take krystal out.
she doesnt deserve a spot in any true videogame character list.
how dare they fire peppy.

anyway nice list.
i think Link shouldnt be a leader and he should be wood. mainly because if he is too main character he would have to talk. Link: no-talky.
the mentor should be... hmmmm... cranky kong? hahaha no.
I say just stick Gandalf in there just for the fun of it :P

and why is sonic energy? shouldnt he be like speed?

and make:
Janitor: Roger Wilco!

MK: This is a show I hope will be made real someday.

Ransom: Speed isn't exactly an element, pal. What about those Chaos Emeralds he uses?

Now why would I take Krystal out? Link has Zelda, why can't Krystal be in there?

I already have a janitor: Chibi-Robo.

NO. Gandalf will NOT be in there. We're talking about videogame characters NOT characters based on movies. (Poke'mon started as a videogame.)

Showsni: Who the HECK is Captain N?

Let me guess who the warrior of Light should be. Pit? Cloud?

Your premise seems slightly similar to the Captain N: the Gamemaster cartoons, which were set in Videoland, a place where all the video game characters (or the ones on Nintenbdo systems) were real. Mother Brain (from Metroid) is the main baddy.

What? They fired Peppy Hare? Those bastards.

But, if you choose to take out Krystal, why not put in Ruto? Yes I know, I know, she's a water element. But isn't ice just frozen water? And I say that we have Pit from Kid Icarus in here somehow. After seeing him redone for SSBB, he deserves to be on this list :P

Too late, I made up my mind of the warrior of ice. Krystal stays.

From some of my closest friends, I've heard these for suggestions.

Light: Pit
Guardian form: something called Seraph Dragon, a dazzling white dragon with eagle wings. (Seraph is another word for "High Angel")

Wood: Donkey Kong
Guardian form: Armor-dillo (Some giant armadillo)

I've even got Krystal's guardian form.
Guardian form: Krazoa Valkyrie (Some woman with bird wings and a sword. She keeps her face concealed and has flowing blue hair.)

Don't worry, I'll find ways of fitting other characters (Including many of your suggestions) in. Don't worry, Peppy's still around.

Look, here's how the two leaders work. Fox makes the orders, Link makes sure they're followed.

Personalities

Fox: Fox is cunning, intelligent, and can stay calm in some tough situations. He can even form strategies not even Samus can master. He does tend to stutter when he's talking about something he doesn't want to. (Remember Star Fox Assault with Tricky? Try that.) He has a crush on Krystal, but he doesn't really like to talk about it.

Link: Link is more of the simple guy. He's not a big fan of technology and he's often the annoyance target for Pichu and Kirby. He's a little short-tempered, but if you strike a soft spot (Zelda is capable of that), he's a real nice guy. He has a crush on Zelda (Malon doesn't exist...yet.), but he's not about to show it.

Mario: Though he's in his late twenties, he's a kid at heart and does a few goofy things. He's a little eccentric and a little jealous of Fox and Link being the leaders mainly because he's "The Best there is". Other than that, he's one of the funniest characters around and makes a lot of jokes.

Pichu: Pichu is one of the younger members and he's a lot like Spongebob. He's most likely to get beat up by Link (Link shoved him in a dustbuster vacuum cleaner once). He's best buddies with Kirby and they get along like Spongebob and Patrick. One of his hobbies is trying to worm information out of his fellow members. When it comes to fighting, he's pretty good.

Samus: Samus is a real tomboy. If she were to wear masculine clothes and get a short haircut, you could pretty much mistake her for one, too. She's one of the smartest members and often fixes everyone's gadgets from shotguns to Fox's Arwing. She does tend to be a bit headstrong, but she is very confident.

Kirby: Kirby is a lot like Pichu. He loves playing games, watching cartoons, and (you guessed it) eating. Kirby is a very flexible guy, seeing as he has no vertebrae or backbone for that matter. Sometimes he thinks he's smarter than Pichu, when in fact, he's not as smart as his yellow buddy.

Sonic: Sonic is a very fun-loving, outgoing guy. He's been known to break treadmills at top speed. Like Samus, he's a very confident guy and he is a bit cocky. When it comes to buddies, he's got lots of 'em from Tails to Jet. Though he doesn't talk as fast as he runs, he would rather keep his conversations short.

Zelda: Zelda is like one of those people you see sitting under a tree while reading a book. She's wise beyond her years and has extensive knowledge of the Nintendo World and its history. Link has a crush on her, she does too, but she's a little more reserved around him. When she has to fight, she'll do so with the heart of a warrior.

Pit: Pit is an active warrior with his bow/dual-blade/mini-swords. He hopes to fly someday, but for now, a glide is the best his wings will allow. He has eyes like an eagle and can even pelt enemies from over a mile away. He's a little hyper and acts mainly on instinct when he fights. If he stops to think about what he's doing, he tends to screw up. Still, there's no telling how good he'll do.

Mewtwo: Mewtwo is pretty much the only adult-acting character with the exception of Zelda. He cannot talk, so he uses his powerful mind to communicate. He's one of those "I'm a good guy, but I don't smile unless I'm utterly amused." Mewtwo feels like he's smarter than all these guys combined, but he can learn to live with them.

Krystal: Krystal is a tomboy like Samus, but she has a kind soul. When it comes to thoughtfulness, she takes the cake. Her telepathic abilities come in handy against the enemy (Mainly Scales and his cronies) and she's as much of a video-gamer as Pichu. She's one of those women you want to hang around with.

Donkey Kong: DK has the personality of an athlete. He's not exactly the brightest of bulbs, but he makes up for it with brute strength. He's often seen either working out or munching on bananas and coconuts. When it comes to funny characters, I'd give him a second place. Some of his major bad habits are swinging from the chandelier and belching at the table.

Even the bad guys have their personalities.

Scales: The Sharpclaw general is the master of evil and is bent on world domination and greater power. He would easily accomplish that...if he had better henchmen. While Scales is the master, he lives with three morons. See below...

King K. Rool: K. Rool is a glutton who loves one food: Donuts. When you see him, he's often found either eating or sleeping on the couch and bearing some resemblence to Homer Simpson. He's not the brightest of people with a brain the size of an orange. When it comes to fighting, he likes to throw his weight around and use his large gut.

Skull Kid: This guy doesn't have a face so he wears Majora's Mask. The mask's eyes change to fit his facial features from amusement to frustration. Skull Kid is the bad version of Pichu and he just keeps on annoying Scales again and again. He also seems like the villain would-be hanging out with tough guys to back him up.

Metroid: Metroid is a complete nerd. He's seen every sci-fi movie from Star Trek to Star Wars...39 times in a row. He sounds like Plankton and he has the same problem of getting stepped on by Scales. He also hates it when you pop that bubble thing. If you do, he shouts, "OW, MY BRAIN!"

Do you understand that?

No, Gabe. I meant the video game characters.

Dark Link is a bad guy. He separated from Mewtwo, so you can say he's Mewtwo's half brother.

Just wait, I've got plenty of ideas for ya.

I'm back!

Dark Link: I'm talking about that gelatinous stuff that contains the three or four nuclei. THAT is the bubble thing I'm talking about.

Alright, Gabe. Talk to me.

There are a group of non-warriors that help defend the Nintendo World called "N-savers". They're led by that guy on Poke'mon Collosseum. (I call him Raphael or "Raph" for short) There's the Chaotix Crew, Banjo and Kazooie, Ezlo, Captain Falcon, and even Cloud Strife.

Here's the story. Trouble is brewing in the Nintendo World and these elemental warriors are called forth by the mentor. (Still no idea who it is, though.) When they awaken, their powers awaken as well. Well over half of them are good, but there are bad guys like Scales and his cronies.

There are even villains like...
Andross
The Hand brothers (Master Hand and Crazy Hand)
Star Wolf
The Aparoid Queen
Majora's Mask
Vaati
Dark Link (He's pretty much an elemental warrior and has a guardian form: Ganon, the huge monster on OoT.)
The spirit of the Fierce Deity Mask
and the mysterious villain Tritos (More on him later.)

That's all for now, but be patient.

PS (Any ideas for a mentor? Someone wise, old, and serious.)

1) My Valkyrie form, or once called "Ai no Tenshi", is very powerful and fueled by the strongest force in the universe: Love. There're several stages that I go through when the power has been awakened.

Stage 1: Transparant wings appear, new ability gained - Feather Bomb Barrage <Shoots feathers from wings that explode on contact>
Stage 2: Clothes become kimono, new ability gained - Summon partisan, Kaze no Kizu <see Inu-yasha
Stage 3: Eyes become brighter, wings become semi-transparent, new ability gained - Protection Screen <Shield of Holy Light appears>
Stage 4: Clothes become bikini, new ability gained - Summon weapon <Can choose a weapon and summon it>
Stage 5: Hair becomes silver, wings become more solid, new ability gained - Holy Light <Heals and revives>
Stage 6: Wristbands appear, new ability gained - Homing Feather Blast <Much like the Feather Bomb Barrage, but hones in on targets>
Stage 7: Wings become completely solid, new ability gained - Spirit Blast <Beams of light shoot out and hit all enemy targets>
Final stage: Bikini becomes armor, new ability gained - Valkyrie Blitzkrieg <Splits and attacks 1 enemy from all sides>

2) Perhaps Rauru should be the mentor? Or Jurai Katsuhito (Since there were a couple games based on Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki, he counts!!)

maybe you should just have scales breeding metroids, and he unleashes them on the team.

Scales (I'm assuming he's a Kremling) probably doesn't know the first thing about Metroids, so I don't think that would work.
