In the latest issue of Game Informer magazine, Nintendo of America's Head of Localization Bill Trinen discussed The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

"With Twilight Princess, the depth of story and its connections to past games means not only does it have twice the text as Wind Waker, but it includes a fair number of legacy terms that originate in past games, so consistency is a big focus there," Trinen noted. "We've also been given the opportunity to provide a lot of input on everything from play control to character design, so over time our role has grown from simply localizing the Zelda games to almost being a branch of the development team itself."

Regarding Twilight Princess' ESRB rating, Trinen stated that he expects "the game to get a T rating because of the more realistic graphics, so because of that you may see scenes and situations in the game that wouldn't have fit in a game like Wind Waker."

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, appearing on GameCube and Wii, is expected to release on both platforms come Wii's launch day. For more information and media, please visit The Wiire's game page for this title.

The full article, featuring insight from localization managers working for other publishers, can be found in the September issue of Game Informer magazine.

Not surprised by the T rating. Doubt they'll do anything more offensive than the previous 3D games, just a bit more detailed and realistic.

Very glad that they're trying to keep the English language terminology consistent, the last thing we need is another 6 names for the Dark Realm.

Might this game fix the entire Zelda timeline in one fell swoop?

Nah, probably not. But it'd be hilarious if it did. The timeline community would be very bored all of a sudden.

No Way. Even if TP does fix the whole TWW with the IW problem, there will still be the issues of TMC and KnS for timeliners to debate until another Zelda game comes and screws every thing up again.

I meant that maybe it would fix ALL timeline descrepancies. THAT would be funny. Not that people would stop arguing. People are dumb.

Yeah, this news is great, I felt TWW didn't have enough people in it, maybe we'll get the next MM in relation to NPC's.

Link could find an encylopedia of Hyrule's History in the Royal Library, open it up, show the text to the player, and people would STILL refute what it says -_-;

Ah well, you see, the event of Link opening the encyclopaedia is within the game of TP, which is itself liable to have been distorted by age, so we can't trust anything that's in the game. Yep. (Unless it helps my timeline.)

TP will be a perfectly reliable account of the real happenings in Hyrule by the time the Twilight spread from the first to last second of the game; more reliable than any previous games because it will be the most recent, the most realistic and the best Zelda game of all times.
This isn't to say that anything in the other games' plots didn't happen just the way we saw it though. The place for distortions to happen are the backstory/intro legends, but never the actual games themselves. (after we've subtracted all the game mechanics and easter eggs from them, that is)

I dont want to sound to selfish about this,as there is probably of people that want to see this resolved once and for all,and while they should have a very explained connection in TP,i just hope its not too much.I dont know if many of you agree, but in my opinion zelda would lose some of its flare if that happened. So ill stand to the rule of me arguing about the story of zelda, untill i get completely bored of it.This has been going on for years i hope Nintendo really knows what their doing.

Don't worry, Nintendo won't ever explain the whole timeline in every little detail. If they did, they might as well decide right now not to make any future Zelda games anymore, since adding new games to an already rigid timeline isn't really intriguing, right?
Anyway, to explain everything with one single game wouldn't even be possible. How should TP explain anything about the games that happen after TWW (for those with a Single Timeline) or about the games that happen in the parallel timeline (for those who.. uh, it's obvious)?
Frankly, I don't expect any major explanations from TP other than about the backstory of TWW. This expectation is a realistic one, I think, and so I'm not very likely to be disappointed in the end. ;)
