Build: He's extremely thin (look at his weight), quite clumsy, specially outside of water (for Zora's standards, so is he in water, but he's anyway really agile in water compared to any non-aquatic creature). He's right handed.
Origin: n/a (the character is original, though he has connections to a few things from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)
Strengths & Abilities: He uses two weapons: his main weapon is a stick he uses to perform magical attacks, and he has also a small dagger. His abilities are mainly related with water, that he can control to his own desire, he can do whatever he wants with water: from freezing it to boil it instantaniously. He can even absorb the water from the body of an enemy. But for that, he must have an eyecontact with that water (adrop of sweat is enough). He can aso use his natural (Zora) powers, that includes using his fins as if they were daggers, being a fantastic swimmer and being able to create electric barriers. As one of the Sages he can use powers of light, only useful to fight the evil, together with limited healing powers.

Weaknesses: Since his abilities are connected with water, and he cannot create water by himself, he's pretty weak in places where there is no water. As a Zora he is vulnerable to both fire and ice (though he can control the latter). He also is really antisocial and prefers being on his own.

Biography: His mother was Princess Ruto of the Zoras. She was born to King Zora XVI and Queen Larthis. Since little she was stubborn and tomboyish, until she knew a boy named Link of whom she fell in love. This boy, the future Hero of Time, had saved her from Lord Jabu-Jabu's Belly and she obligated him to accept a marriage compromise, by giving him the Zora Engagement Ring, the Spiritual Stone of Water.
After Link opened the Gates to the Sacred Realm, the evil started emerging from every temple of Hyrule. Even the sacreed Temple of Water was contaminated by a huge amoeba, that caused the Goddesses to anger, freezing Zora's Domain.
But Ruto had been born for a destiny, and she would fulfill it. She was saved from the thick ice seal by a young man named Sheik, who recommended her to go to the Water Temple, where she would meet the Hero of Time. There, together with Link, she destroyed the evil course on Water Temple, awakening as the Sage of Water.
"I grant my eternal love to you."-said Ruto in the Chamber of Sages
"Ruto...."-said Link
"Well, that's what I wanted to say, but I don't think I can offer that now.
I have to guard the Water Temple as the Sage of Water... But when my labour is completed..."
"No..."
"You don't have to explain me anything... I know... we have loved each other since that day, seven years ago...."
"That's not what I mean"
"...And that we will marry after we, the six wise ones, seal Ganondorf"
"Ruto... I must tell you something. I don't love you"

Ruto would never forget that sentence. I don't love you. She felt as if she had been betrayed, but she knew it wasn't true, that she had built by herself that fantasy world, where she and Link would live happily ever after. She decided to consecrate herself to celibacy, to continue praying all her life to the water spirits. But destiny had decided another thing. When as one of the Seven Sages, she sealed the Evil Encarnation pof Darkness, Link was sent to the time he came from by Princess Zelda.

King Zora XVI had suffered serious injuries because of the long time undere the ice, and died soon after. Thus was Ruto crowned as the Queen of Zoras. After that she discovered she was pregnant, though she had known no male, neither Hylian nor Zora. She went to pray to the Water Temple, where she the Goddess Nayru spoke to her. She said:

"Don't be sad about your destiny, my server, Sage of Water, because the Golden Goddesses have granted you a son. He will grow in wisdom, and his star will never vanish"

Two weeks after that, Ruto gave birth to a Zora, whom she named Merynecher Khenemetnayru, that means in an ancient and forgotten language "Beloved of the God, United with Nayru". He grew up as a normal Zora, as a normal Prince of Zoras, though he always prefered studying the ancient books of her mother than playing with the other Zoras of his age. When he was ten, he knew more about Hyrulean Hystory than most adults. Admired because of his intelligence, Queen Zelda called him to Hyrule Castle. Ruto, not without resistance, sent him to Hyrule.

He would never forget Hyrule. Used to his little aquatic kingdom, Hyrule seemed huge. He was admired by those green fields full of life. But what admired him most was the Temple of Time. An ancient building, it seemed older even than time. He could hear the voices of the Goddesses whispering in every place of the building, and felt an extraordinary power. He turned and saw Queen Zelda:
"The exalted son of Ruto... I have been waiting for you. I knew you would come here"
"How, your majesty?"
"You are not the only one who can hear the voices of gods. This is the Temple of Time, the temple I, as Seventh Sage, keep."
Merynecher looked with interest at the queen. She recognized that way of looking. It was the same as when she asked her father about the beggining of the world. She continued...
"This Temple houses the legendary Master Sword. It is also a great portal to Sacred Realm"
"I already knew it. Tell me more"
"Come with me, to Hyrule Castle"

Merynecher lived for a whole year in Hyrule Castle. There, he was instructed by Queen Zelda in the mysteries of Hyrule and in powerful white magic. Zelda taught him how to control his powers, conceeded by the Goddess Nayru. But there was something he wanted to know:
"Zelda..."
"What do you want?"
"I want to know something"
"Ask and I will answer"
"Why did you send the Hero to his original time?"
"It's difficult to explain... all the Seal War was because of me... I was repairing my mistakes"
"But he could have remained... with my mother"
"Link was Ruto's obsession. But he just thougth of her as a friend"
"My mother says you did it because you hate her"
"That's false... I even saved her life once"
"That was that young man named Sheik"
"I am Sheik"
And she transformed to her alter ego to his amazement.
"How?"
"It's one of the powers given by the Triforce of Wisdom"
And Sheik transformed again into Zelda.
"I see Ruto is still obsessed with Link. She was convinced she loved me. But there's something she didn't know"
"What didn't my mother know?"
"That he was achild in the body of an adult. Threfore, he couldn't feel anything like love, but just friendship"
After she said that words Zelda went into a trance. With her eyes closed, she whispered a few words: "Ruto... ill... death... sadness"When Merynecher heared those words he felt the worse. When she went back top normal, she told him:
"Your mother is dying, you must go."
"But..."
"YOU MUST GO!!!"
"How?"
"As the Seventh sage I can send you instantaneously using the Ocarina of Time. Close your eyes"
He heared a melody, and when the melody stopped, he opened his eyes. He was in Zora's Fountain. A Zora saw him. And surprised to see the prince there, brought him to the Queen's Room. Though just 25, Ruto looked really old, because of the sadness she has had to live.
"That Queen Zelda... first she snatches my husband, and then my son..."
"Mother, I am here"
"I am dying, son... and you can do nothing"
"I will heal you... Zelda taught me to"
"There is no medicine that can heal a fool" Said, smiling.
"You are not a fool, you are the Sage of Water"
"I fulfilled a destiny... It's your time to fulfill yours"
She started praying:
"O Goddesses! I am your servant, the Sage of Water! The time has come for me to leave this world! This is my son, the one who will succeed me! ACCEPT HIM AS THE SAGE OF WATER!!!!!!!"
A blue light covered the room, and he was transported to the Chamber of Sages. While he was leaving he saw his mother... for last time.

"Is this Ruto's successor?" said the Sage of Light
"Don't fair" said the Sage of Forest
"Your mother was a great friend of us" said the Sage of Fire
"You have awakened as the Water Sage" said the Spirit Sage
"You have to pray with us to keep Ganon's Seal" said the Shadow Sage
"I.. will" said Merynecher still crying for his mother's death

He prayed to the Goddesses for long ten years. He grew up in wisdom and power. He remained peacefully in the Water Temple. He wanted to see no-one. But it wasn't his destiny to remain there. Everything changed when.......... they came.
