Name: Skye Monahan
Original: Yes
Age: 23
Hair: Light brown. Often unkempt, knotted, and in a ponytail.
Eyes: Blue
Height: 5’ 7”
Weight: 185 lbs

Strengths: Proficient in unarmed fighting, using a mix of self-taught and general martial arts styles. He is also proficient in fighting with quarterstaffs. He is quite swift and dexterous, using a defensive hit-and-run fighting style.

Weaknesses: Has a great fear of metal weapons, most especially of blades. This fear extends to metallic objects that can be improvised as weapons, such as silverware (including butter knives), corkscrews, scissors, crowbars, or just about anything else that one might find in a Swiss army knife. His reaction to such objects can range from basic anxiety, to panic, to outright running away. Though he is quick, his constitution is not very good. He also has less confidence in himself than most people would in themselves, and because of that has the tendency to give up on something if it does spell instant success to him.

Bio: “Could you please just use chopsticks? I mean, it is Chinese food…”

Skye was born in the midwestern United States, and lived through his early years in the comfort of the middle class.
For the most part, Skye was an ordinary person, if not a bit bookish. He grew through most of his teen years with ambition, always hoping that someday he would become a famous author. He would spend most of his time with his eyes looking into a fantasy or science-fiction book. Otherwise, he would spend is time is time enjoying games and music, just like every child of his generation should.

At the age of 17, Skye was mugged by a dangerous criminal and stabbed in the stomach with a switchblade. He recovered and spent the next year in therapy, refusing to approach anything that was remotely similar to knife. He managed to have been cured a little bit of his phobia, but he was never the same again. He could approach some of the feared objects, but always felt nervous around them. He ended up putting up with a lot of teasing with kids from school, and usually ran away from such problems.

Eventually growing tired of being picked on, Skye felt the need to keep himself prepared for a fist fight. He took a number of martial arts classes, but never went too far, which disappointed his teachers who thought he held great potential. In the few tournaments he did participate in he would never place first, but he would get quite close, often in third or second, which did not seem to satisfy him.

Skye began time in college with studying and doing odd jobs while working on a draft for a novel; one that he hoped would be successful on the scale of books he had read before. He ended up supporting himself when his parents found themselves in serious debt. To keep up with the scholarly demands of the university, and live in semi-comfort, he wound up participating in a few fighting tournaments for cash prizes, still placing below first.

He currently still works on his novel, but still cannot bring himself to find it good enough, despite praise from the friends who have seen what he has written. He loathes fighting in the tournament since he never hits first place, but continues to do so for the money. Obsessed with attaining perfection, he continues forward with the wish that he will someday be a great writer, and to be rid completely of his phobia.

And yes, this character is intended for the tournement.
