Strengths: quick and witty comebacks when people call him short, he is a complete genius in Alchemy, strong in hand to hand combat. Can do Alchemy without an Array

Weaknesses: His quick mouth can lead him into some serious trouble. If someone so much as calls him short he will explode at the person, and not even give a second thought of what sort of dangers that might put him in. He could easily end up causing a serious brawl with himself or even another nation. He is just the type of man that could easily start a war with his mouth.He is willing to help just about anybody even if it puts him into serious danger himself. Ed has an auto mail arm and leg, so if those are in some way removed via a gun, alchemy, or himself then he is pretty much useless picture..invalid. Not to mention he is extremely stubborn which can lead to him be unwilling to listen to reason even if it is of course the better route for him. He is sometimes compared to "justice" while his brother is "mercy." This can mean that Ed will take the course that seems like the most logical and give a punishment without even a second thought if he thinks that is the path and the punishment you deserve. He cares endlessly for his brother and will easily give his own life to protect his baby brother.

Bio: Ed's real story begins in February of 1910 when he and his younger brother Alphonse attempted to revive their deceased mother through alchemy. The process is considered a forbidden art with unknown consequences to the two alchemist. The attempt backfires on the two boys resulting in the loss of Al's body and Ed's left leg. In order to save his brother Ed sacrifices his right arm to bind his brother's soul to the one thing he saw nearby, a suit of armor using his new skills he learned from 'going through the gate'.

During the stay with the Rockbell's young Ed and Al happened upon an alchemist by the name of Roy Mustang who came bearing a letter addressed to Honhemhein Elric (their father). The Military was very interested in the Elric's missing father. After Roy learned of the boys sins and how they had survived such a feat Roy attempted to talk the boy's into taking the State Alchemist exam, using the pressure of the great amount of research and power the boys could get in taking such a test (such as being able to gain the research to help them get their original bodies back). The research alone was enough to talk young Edward Elric into taking the test. Since obviously with one arm and leg Edward Elric could never attempt such a thing, he instead insisted he was going to go through the process of gaining automail limbs. The rehab alone would take over a year but it was something that Ed was quite willing to go through.

After a short stay with some friends Ed and Al decide to go on a journey to obtain the Philosopher's Stone in attempt to regain what had been lost to them. The stone is said to allow an alchemist to perform transmutations that violate the law's of Equivalent Exchange. In order to gain access to the knowledge, money, and research that is open to only State Alchemists, Ed and Al decide to attempt to take the entrance exam. During this stay Ed discovers that he able to do Alchemy without the use of a "array." Something that down the line will come in use more then once for the young alchemist. Needless to say Edward passes the test no problem when he use of the Alchemy without the array proves to be "worthy" of becoming a state Alchemist. He is given the nickname the "Fullmetal Alchemist" and quickly goes on his way to quest after the Philosopher's Stone.

Good sum up of how the being called short could be a weakness. Most people wouldn't think about how much trouble Edward could get into with all that screaming at random people. Also good job on handling the automail.
