This is mainly to people who've seen the trailer already but what do you make of it?

I think everyone here knows exactly how much love I have for SEED, so for the sake of not falling into mindless bashing, I won't say anything except that I've seen more originality in Hollywood then in the "new" Gundams.

The whole elemental land, sea, sky, space, all-round unit rehash?

Although I'm more interested in how the stroy will turn out this time...

Although I don't care much for SEED, I'm glad Sunrise is continuing an existing universe, rather than make a brand new one. Endless Waltz did that for Wing, sure, but that was a movie/OVA. This is a series. Not to mention all of the junk Bandai has been able to make off SEED.

Not my cup of tea, especially when realizing what they're trying to compare the show to, but at least they're getting rid of the clean slate method... at least for now.

Hey Gundam X was hardly junk...if anything that easily ranks as one of the best Gundam series

X is easily the best of the AU's, especially the trash of SEED. Pity it had to be cut short though.

I mean I still don't understand...X was the most solid of all the AU's at no time did the eps seem pointless and even filler eps were atcually good.
How did it manage to pull in such a poor audience?

I think they focused it on the wrong audience, plus they gave it the "death" time slot - 6:30 AM. >.<

Omg...6:30am? The time itself is damnation of the worse kind.

When did I say X was bad? In fact, I'd agree with DJ in that's it the best AU. Although I think G Gundam takes the place as second best AU, but that's just me. ;)

Actually, I agree with you there. Wing takes too much time to run around and babbe while SEED just blows, whereas G Gundam gives you what it is out front and doesn't try to be otherwise.

Then there's Turn-A... but I've never seen it and looks odd. ;)

Although Turn-A unifying all AUs together is... interesting, to say the least.

Turn A ranks second imo...although I actually dislike Turn A the most in a unbiased view its easily the second best after X in terms of story and character development. But definitely sucked the msot for fights and shiny mechas.

After that then comes G-Gundam, Wing and SEED which I put around the same level...sorry G-Gundam though was quite poor to start it only actually got good around halfway.
Wing started strong and weakened than got strong again and then screwed up the ending. However the uneditted OVA was very good and made up for Wing.
SEED...erm is just nice robot designs and eye candy, story is mediocre throughout and doesn't dip as much as the other 2...but turns out being average because of it.

Thats my views on the AU's.

Basically yes. G Gundam started off weak, became interesting once the Devil Gundam was introduced, was excellent in the Guyana Highlands, stumbled a bit in the tourney, and ended great - but I'm a sucker for cheesy, sappy endings.

Wing...ugh. It started off fine, but it lost what little plot it had and killed itself by the end - not even the "Relena tears Heero's birthday card in half" scene made me smile since it was such a pathetic ending - and had no excuse due to being a full 49 episodes.

X was great, despite only have 39 or so episodes, and did a lot of good with the "Post OYW except with a higher death toll and more depression" bit.

Never seen Turn A myself, though I want to. I've been trying for awhile.

In the interest of not going into mindless bashing mode, I'll just say I never liked SEED and was more happy then anything when...

I still very much like UC...except for the first half of ZZ, that was just...bad...

I thought ZZ was plain bad...

I know that SD Gundam MKIV made a awesome parody of Wacky Races and had a certain 2 unpopular characters from ZZ playing Mutley and Dick Dastardly

Yes - those were the true SD Gundam series, and were great.

Superior Defender though...oy.

Only thing worth seeing Superior Defender for was Zero the shining Knights design...nothing else...

The old SDGundam MK series was awesome but its near impossible to find it anymore.
Is it me or did the SD characters love taking pisses randomly? The pun on Char's name...

Yes they did.

...and I admit, the "Zako Zako Hour" on Superior Defender wasn't bad, at least the few times I saw them.
