Of course, I'm always more interested in bad guys in stories and such, so evil has its perks.

Same here. In regards to fiction, I'm far more interested in evil, because the bad guys always have cool and interesting backstories. Which is the kind of thing I'm into.

Hypothetically, if "evil" was the norm of the world (and it's not), people could never trust each other (everyone would only look out for themselves, or just use others), societies could not be maintained, there'd be massive chaos, and sooner or later, humanity would end.
When people strive for good, there is then the chance for justice to be maintained, and for peace to exist among them. People treat others as friends rather than enemies, and they look out for others. Governments generally try to serve those that they govern.
I'd say that most people work for good, while there are certainly a number of people who are full of hatred in this world. Also, some "good" people make mistakes and go off the beaten path, committing acts of evil from time to time.
As cool as "evil" appears to be, I'd much rather live in a world where people were kind to one another.

Evil will always win, because good is dumb.

If the Gnostics are correct, and our God is actually the Demiurge and hides his Evil by preaching messages of Good will and goodness, then perhaps its better to side with the Forces of Evil.
I remember the game, Breath of Fire 2, which had a Gnostic story to it. The people worshipping the God, St. Eva, were worshipping what essentially seemed to be a Christian God. All the doctrines seemed unusually Christian, but the God turned out to be an evil death-obsesssed Demon that wished to "bless the world with death".

It all depends on what good and evil are.

That has a ridiculously cool appeal...
